Indesign CS4/CS3 and Export to PDF problems Samuli75 Jan 21, 2009 5:19 AM Hello, I have been having problems with both Indesign CS3 and CS4 and exporting large documents to a PDF-file. Exporting halts with error messages like: "Failed to Export the PDF file" in CS4 or "Error encountered while reading JPEG image" in CS3. Problem can be corrected by simply closing InDesign and restarting it and opening the same file again. It appears that problem occurs more often the file is large. Any suggestions how to fix this problem? I'm using Vista 64-bit and have 8GB memory. 23618Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Show 33 replies 1. Image may be damaged or incompatible. Resave the image with different settings and try again." when Exportin to PDf. And if I just save/quit/reopen, I'm able to export the pdf fine. Sometimes I have to close other programs, before I'm succesful. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. Empty the temp folders and see if it helps. Like S

I had a tech support person run several diagnostic programs on my system, and re-build my directory, but he could not find any problem. The scanner works fine and the images look great. I can place Photoshop images in Quark XPress 7.0 with no problem. If anyone has any thoughts, I'd be grateful! Then try to place it. Tom Guest February 2nd,12:30 AM #4 Re: problem importing Photoshop images into InDesign files (CS2) Tom, As a test, I just c

Printing and ExportingTroubleshooting PDF Export Problems? Toggle Tagged PDF On and Off Bob Levine June 20, 2008 Tweet 24 CommentsShare This Tweet This Article Share on Facebook Email This Article Share on Google+ Pin This Article In the last few days I've been playing around some the interactive features of InDesign. I created a few buttons with effects and text and because there's no way to test these features within InDesign, I attempted to export a PDF with all of the appropriate settings: Acrobat 6 compatibility, Include Interactive Elements and Embed all Multimedia Content. The result was nothing. No PDF and no error message generated. Generally, I enjoy a good mystery, but this one had me baffled. After some testing and conferring with a few other folks, it became apparent that the combination of text and the bevel/emboss effect on the button was causing the issue. Sure enough, converting the text to outlines or getting rid of the effect resulting in a successful PDF export. When I posted this information on the User to User forum, I was directed to a thread that discussed this issue. It turns out that the "fix" for this is toggle the Create Tagged PDF setting to whatever it wasn't set to. I had it off so I enabled it and sure enough, the PDF exported successfully with text and effects on the button. This reminded me of an older issue with PDFs suffering from what I like to refer to as "bunched text syndrome" where a section of text is all pushed into a small area. The toggle trick usually works to fix that, too. I'm not going to sit here and profess that this will fix every PDF export, but it worked for me this time and it's certainly an easy enough thing to try. I know what some of you are thinking, though. "I need a tagged PDF" for accessibility or some other purpose so I can't disable that. The bizarre thing about this is that once you toggle it off and get a good PDF, the odds are pretty good that toggling it back on won't hurt anything.
