First off, i'm slightly new to Linux, but i'm not completely hopeless, after putzing around with a Knoppix LiveCD. My hardware is a D-link DWL-G520 wireless card on an AMD Athlon 64 motherboard. After unpacking and such, i typed in: Code: [root@localhost madwifi-0.9.4]# modprobe ath_pci This gave me back: Code: FATAL: Error inserting ath_pci (/lib/modules.2.6.32.1-42.fc8/net/ath_pci.ko): No such device Fun-fun with an error message. So, after trawling through the forums, i tried the command dmesg. ... which flooded the terminal window. I have http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2603 googled around a bit and I ended up installing the ath9k drivers. I successfully installed it and recompiled the kernel with the Ath9k module. I can verify this was successfuly by producing no errors with the command: modprobe ath9k. When I do iwconfig however, I still see no wireless device. Does anyone have any information on how to get my wireless card working in backtrack? I used this tutorial to install this: How to install the development version of atk9k - ThinkWiki Thanks in advance for any helpful info. I'd really like to get my wireless up and running EDIT*** ***I actually have the AR9287 wireless card. Could one of the mods change the title of this post to reflect that? Thank you.*** PROBLEM SOLVED: Turns out it wasn't that difficult. Just needed the newer compat wireless driver from here http://www.orbit-lab.org/kernel/comp...2.6.33.tar.bz2 Then, follow the instructions of dusty boner. I skipped the make unload step because I forgot and my internet was working. Didn't want to mess with it anymore. Anyways, here are the commands I used: Code: tar -xf /root/compat-wireless-2.6.33.tar.bz2 cd compat-wireless-2.6.33 make make install shutdown now -r Once rebooted Code: start-network The

Hi, this ticket system is for tracking bugs in the driver source code, not for support requests. You can ask for help on the madwifi-users mailing list: http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/madwifi-users I don't know why you reinstalled the modules after prchasing a new router, but i beleive you have either old modules laying about, or you compiled the new ones with a different gcc than your kernel was compiled with.
