I seem to remember a loader command to update the cache, can anyone remind me what it is?NB: I have an Intel Core2 Duo E7300 CPU, and would like to underclock/undervolt it to get some power savings, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=96987 as I am running at less than 20% cpu most of the time, even with 720p content. I thought I would do the frequency stuff in the OS and do the undervoltage stuff in the BIOS (unless someone can tell how to undervoltage in the OS).Thanks. The acpi-cpufreq module offers voltage scaling in addition of frequency scaling. You should use that instead of p4-clockmod, if possible.I had been following that link ..Thanks,B Last edited by bmentink (2010-05-12 02:07:09) Offline #4 2010-05-12 04:07:59 bmentink Member From: New Zealand Registered: 2009-08-23 Posts: 3

FATAL: Error inserting powernow_k7 (/lib/modules/2.6.15-7-k7/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/powernow-k7.ko): No such device FATAL: Error inserting acpi_cpufreq (/lib/modules/2.6.15-7-k7/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/acpi-cpufreq.ko): No such device * Starting powernowd... * CPU frequency scaling not supported ...done. My system is a Compaq Evo n115, with a AMD error inserting powernow_k7 K6-2 (from dmidecode; also detected by the kernel as "AMD mobile AMD Athlon(tm) 4 Processor stepping 02"). Under 2.6.12-9-k7, things worked fine, and I got CPU scaling happening. Now, no show. Irritatingly, I also get the following in dmesg: powernow: PowerNOW! Technology present. Can scale: frequency and voltage. cpufreq_powersave probes OK. As does pcc_acpi. Add tags Tag help Patrick McFarland (diablod3) wrote on 2005-12-14: #1 This is also happening on my laptop. I confirmed that powernow-k7 properly loads on 2.6.12-9-k7. yet not on any 2.6.15. Ben Collins (ben-collins) wrote on 2005-12-14: #2 Can you send dmesg output please?
