Error Updating Ios 5.1.1
time out, not start at all, or sometimes throw an error message saying "Unable to Check for Update. An error occurred while checking for a software update." or "The network connection could not be established." If you're having trouble downloading iOS 5.1 from Apple's servers, try these fixes: Reset Network Settings on iOS Device: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings Clear Hosts File: Look at your hosts file for anything blocking Apple's servers and comment them out, this is mostly relevant to jailbreakers and if you see "Error 3194" Change DNS Servers: Adjusting DNS on either the computer you are downloading from or iOS device if using OTA can resolve the issue, instructions on how to do so are below Changing DNS seems to be the most reliable method, here is how to do so in iOS and OS X. Changing DNS in iOS Tap on Settings, tap on "Wi-Fi", and tap on the blue arrow next to the router name Under "DHCP" tab tap on "DNS" and replace with: "8.8.8.8" for Google DNS, or "208.67.222.222" for OpenDNS Tap the Back button and attempt to use OTA again Change DNS in OS X Open System Preferences from the Apple menu Click on "Network" and then click on ‘Advanced' in the lower right corner Click the "DNS" tab and then add a new DNS server by clicking the "+" icon, adding either "8.8.8.8" for Google DNS or "208.67.222.222" for OpenDNS Drag the newly added DNS server to the top of the list, click "OK" then close out of System Preferences On a Mac you may need to follow this up with flushing DNS cache, so open the Terminal and type the following: dscacheutil -flushcache Now try opening iTunes and updating, or try to download iOS 5.1 firmware directly from Apple again. An unrelated but pleasant side effect of changing DNS can be that your wi-fi speeds increase, give it a try and let us know if it works for

errors that pop up every time I try to update, restore or (at times) even sync the iPhone, the notorious iTunes error 3194 is the one I fear most. Not that the error hasn't got a fix, but the fact that https://www.igeeksblog.com/fix-itunes-error-3194/ there are plenty of fixes for the error and that you'll have to try each one in a variety of combinations to fix the thing. Apple's support page for specific errors on iTunes isn't all that helpful. For starters, Apple isn't all that http://jaxov.com/2012/05/fix-itunes-error-11-while-restoring-ios-5-1-1-ipsw-manually/ interested in people downgrading their iOS firmware. So naturally, all the signing is already done with so if you're trying to downgrade to iOS 7.x an upgrade to iOS 8, you're going to have a bad time (unless you're lucky and you downgraded error updating within the short time window where Apple still signs). And when you're dealing with a jailbroken iPhone, it's going to be even worse. If you're real lucky - and I mean seriously lucky - you'll not see any errors crop up when you try to update or restore. Most users who don't usually tinker with their iPhones are these lucky ones. For the rest of us, here's what you can do to fix the iTunes error 3194. (Check out this tutorial in case you are facing error updating ios iTunes error 17 issue.) How to Fix iTunes Error 3194 During iOS Update on Your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch: You're just trying to update / upgrade the firmware but iTunes keeps throwing up this error. In most cases, it's because of a simple problem with the hosts file. Here's how to fix it: For Windows, navigate to C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/ and find the file that's named "hosts" For Mac, the file is in /etc/ Open the file in Notepad (or any other text editing software) (for Windows users, open this with Administrator Privileges) You'll mostly have this line at the bottom of the file: 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com Either comment this line out by typing a single ‘#' (without the quotes) in front of the line (before 74) or remove the line entirely. Now, save the hosts file and then try updating your iPhone through iTunes. In most cases, the error shouldn't pop up now. Again, if you're lucky, this should work. To me, this method never worked but then, I had my iPhone jailbroken too many times. So that's when TinyUmbrella comes to the rescue. Fixing iTunes Error 3194 for a Jailbroken iPhone using TinyUmbrella TinyUmbrella is a cool little software that you probably have heard of already. Note #1: TinyUmbrella and this method are actually part of the 3194 error fix for "downgrading" your iOS firmware. But in some cases (like ours), it worked for an update too. It's mostly because we had a jailbroken iPhone that wasn't restored to factory settings. Here's how it works: Note #

This iTunes error we encountered while working on the article about the new Absinthe 2.0.1. Normally the error should not appear, but if you see the error blinking on your screen then we found the answer on what went wrong! In our case, the error appeared while jailbreaking iOS 5.1.1 using Absinthe 2.0.1, but this error can also appear in other processes. If you missed the news, you can check out everything about the release of Absinthe 2.0.1 to jailbreak any iDevice. While we where trying to get our iOS 5.1.1 SHSH Blobs using TinyUmbrella, iTunes showed a message that for some reason we cannot restore iOS 5.1.1 using TinyUmbrella. It is important to mention that we already saved iOS 5.1.1 SHSH Blobs in TinyUmbrella previously.Solution to fix iTunes Error 11Check your HOSTS file and remove all the gs.apple.com entriesTry to restore without TinyUmbrellaUPDATE X1: Unfortunately, this post is way out of date and DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE. Any attempt to use this guide will lead to failure. As an alternative to fix iTunes Error 11 as suggested by user Scotbond, you can instead use Redsn0w to stitch SHSH blobs INTO the IPSW (custom or stock) and create a brand-new IPSW. You can then use iTunes to restore to iOS 5.1.1 using the Redsn0w-stitched IPSW. Make sure that TinyUmbrella is not running in the background and your HOST file is at default. The process is quite similar to this guide. We tested this solution, and it worked fine.Earlier today, we already encountered iTunes error 3194 while restoring iOS 5.1.1 on iPhone, iPod & iPad. We are still testing and if we come across more errors in this process, we will get back to you as soon as possible! Was this explanation about how to fix iTunes error 11 useful to you?
