Is Java 1.4.2 part of the current OS or was from previous OS?Anyway when I tried downloading the Java 1.4.2 Update, my iMac refuses, in the installer it says:You cannot install Java 1.4.2 Update 1 Package error updating nav on this volume. This volume does not contain a version of Java that needs updating. So if Java is the problem like what Symantec Support points out, how can I re-install Java 1.4.2?Thanks and cheers iMac G5 20" (Ambient Light Sensor) •, Mac OS X (10.4.7), • 250G HD • 2G Ram • iPod nano 4G • iPod 60G • 12" PowerBook Posted on Oct 2, 2006 10:57 AM I have this question too Close Q: Norton Anti-virus-Unable to Live Update (Virus Def) Error/Java 1.4.2 All replies Helpful answers Page 1 of 6 last Next by Dr. Smoke, Dr. Smoke Oct 2, 2006 1:44 PM in response to howwow Level 9 (56,585 points) Oct 2, 2006 1:44 PM in response to howwow I think Symantec had a temporary problem with their servers. It may be a recurring issue. I ran LiveUpdate over the weekend to get the latest virus defs and also encountered the same message, i.e. "There was an error performing the update (OK button)"I suspected a server issue at Symantec's end as it took a good bit of time before it apparently timed-out and nothing was downloaded.I tried ag

It was developed between 1991 and 2014. It used signatures and heuristics to identify viruses. Other features included in it were e-mail spam filtering and phishing protection. Symantec distributed the product as a download, a box copy, and as OEM software. Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security, a related product, held a 61% US retail market share for security suites as of the first half of 2007. Competitors, in terms of market share in this study, include antivirus products from CA, Trend Micro, and Kaspersky Lab.[1] Norton AntiVirus was running on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. Windows 7 support was in development for versions 2006 through 2008. Version 2009 has Windows 7 supported update already. Versions 2010, 2011, and 2012 all natively support Windows 7, without needing an update. Version 12 is the only version fully compatible with Mac OS X Lion. With the 2015 series of products, Symantec made changes in its portfolio and discontinued Norton AntiVirus.[2] Contents 1 Origins 2 Windows edition 2.1 Version 2006 (13.0) 2.2 Version 2007 (14.0) 2.3 Version 2008 (15.0) 2.4 Version 2009 (16.0) 2.5 Version 2010 (17.0) 2.6 Version 2011 (18.0) 2.7 Version 2012 (19.0) 2.8 Version 2013 (20.0) 2.9 Version 2014 (21.0) 3 Criticism 3.1 FBI cooperation 3.2 Update disables legitimate software 3.3 Product support 3.4 Faulty update 3.5 Uninstallation 3.6 Incompatibilities with ZoneAlarm 3.7 PIFTS.exe 3.8 Consumer complaints 4 Windows 8 Consumer Preview compatibility 5 Macintosh edition 6 Co
