had tried multiple users, that existed on different databases, but the same error always persisted. I double checked that my account had all the relevant permissions to make this move happen. I did a little research and this was my fix. Relatively simple in fact. Ultimately, I assigned full permissions for the Exchange 2010 computer accounts to each Information Store on the Exchange 2003 server. Once I did this, the local move request worked immediately. The steps are below.
Log onto the Exchange 2003 server Open Exchange System Manager Expand Administrative Groups Expand the name of your administrative group (possibly First Administrative Group) Expand Servers Expand the name of your Exchange 2003 server Expand the name of your Storage Group (possibly First Storage Group) Left-click the name of your database Right-click the name of your database and pick Properties from the context menu Select the Security tab. I want to remove a mailbox database that no longer exists as the server is gone. Please see below. https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/318903-exchange-2010-mailbox-database-dismounted-and-nonexistent I have a virtual environment where the datastore that housed the exchange Server completely failed, drives and server. I rebuilt the exchange box and did a setup /m:RecoverServer and I now see that there is a dismounted mailbox database. I created a new database and it is mounted fine. My problem is that I cannot get the dismounted one to remove. The dismounted database does not phyically exist as per the failure noted above. Exchange Powershell also does not work on this system. I have a second exchange server that I had built so I could create a DAG and Powershell will work on it.Here is the Powershell error Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message : The WinRM client canno t process the request. It cannot determine the content type of the HTTP response from the destination computer. The con tent type is absent or invalid. May 23, 2011 by Wayne Small Leave a Comment Doing a migration for a client last week from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 and when I went to move users mailboxes from http://www.sbsfaq.com/?p=2726 Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, I got the message below “Mailbox Database… is offline”. It put me in a bit of a spin to start with but I eventually found it was referring to the Exchange 2003 server. The solution was to add the Exchange 2010 servers computer account to give it Full control access on the mailbox store on the Exchange 2003 server. You exchange 2010 can do this on the Exchange 2003 System Manager > First Storage Group > Mailbox Store > Properties > Security Tab. Restart the Exchange 2003 Information Store service afterwards to ensure the change takes.
