noticing that address book downloads failed during a manual send/receive operation with: ‘error (0x8004010F) operation failed. exchange 2010 oab folder empty An object cannot be found.’ Basically, this error is happening because Outlook 2007 and higher clients rely on web based distribution of the offline address book, and

that address book is not found on the CAS Server. The fix is to enable the Default Offline Address book on the mailbox server for Web-based distribution: This setting does not go into effect immediately. If you want to force it to start working immediately, you need to perform these steps: 1) Update the exchange 2010 oab distribution address book 2) Restart the File Distribution Service on the CAS Server Performing this step will cause the CAS to download a copy of the OAB from the Mailbox server, see this post for more info on the Exchange File Distribution service. 3) Force Active Directory to sync (repadmin /syncall /APed) Now, when you force a send/receive from Outlook, the address book will download cleanly! There are other reasons why clients may be getting error 0x8004010F, check out this post for more information: http://blogs.msdn.com/dgoldman/archive/2008/10/01/understanding-why-error-code-0x8004010f-is-thrown-when-trying-to-download-an-oab.aspx Also, if you are getting Event 9320 in your event logs, you can safely ignore those per this blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/dgoldman/archive/2009/12/01/please-read-events-9320-and-9359-on-new-installation-of-exchange-2010.aspx About The Author Joe Stocker Related Posts General A better way to evaluate PreUpgrade ... Sign in to vote Hi, I have an Exchange 2010 install with legacy Exchange 2003 servers still exchange 2010 oab url access denied in use. Users that are moved to Exchange 2010 from 2003 are experiencing issues when in cached mode, The offline address book will not download correctly to Outlook (2007) and http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jstocker/archive/2010/03/11/troubleshooting-offline-address-book-generation-on-exchange-2010/ in the process of trying to retrieve it, Outlook endlessly asks for user authentication. Authentication is supplied but it just asks again after a couple of seconds. When cached mode is switched off then this is not an issue. Checking on the mailbox server and it is getting Errors 9334 OALGen encountered error 80004005 while initializing the offline address http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/296beded-527a-403e-8daa-8d4a213df66a/exchange-2010-oab-generation-error?forum=exchangesvradminlegacy list generation process. No offline address lists have been generated. Please check the event log for more information. 9330 OALGen encountered error 80004005 (internal ID 50007a1) accessing Active Directory 9334 - The error in 9334 mentions could not find the address list with Guid... The Guid listed in error 9330 and 9334 is different from the Guid listed on the Exchange 2010 c:\program files\microsoft\exchange\v14\ExchangeOAB. I am presuming this is looking to an old version of OAB that is listed in AD but how do I get rid of this and force the Exchange 2010 OAB to generate? Milne [MSFT]10 August, 20127 0 0 0 This is an article written by Frank Plawetzki, a Senior PFE from Deutschland, and originally published on Opsvault. Throughout the https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/rmilne/2012/08/10/outlook-fails-to-download-oab/ last weeks I have seen two different issues that prevented Outlook clients from downloading the OAB (Offline Address Book). One affected public-folder based OAB distribution and the other affected web-based distribution. I want to provide some hints on things that need to be checked in order to follow the OAB generation and publishing process from the exchange 2010 server to the client. While checking this list, the administrator can be sure that the OAB has been generated successfully and check if it has been published at the place where the Outlook client is expecting to find it. At the end of this post, I will give a recommendation regarding the best way in my opinion exchange 2010 oab for rolling out a new OAB to your whole user base, in case you face a situation where a full OAB download for all Outlook clients is necessary. But let’s start with the OAB generation and publishing process. Understanding the OAB Generation and Publishing Process In case you want to start with a detailed understanding of the process, Dave Goldman has provided a detailed guidance on the client-server interaction when downloading an OAB in his post Understanding why error code 0X8004010F is thrown when trying to download an OAB. While this info is great technical background, in this post I want to shed some light on the publishing of the OAB through Public Folders and through Web-based distribution, especially on where to look first. It is important to note, that I am concentrating on a domain joined Outlook client. In case your client is not member of a domain, please see this article: Troubleshooting Error 0x8004010F When Outlook 2007 Clients Download OAB. So how does this work? W
