Mapi Session Exceeded The Maximum Of 32 Objects Of Type Session Exchange 2010
250 object of type Folder View. Why does this happen? Exchange has some built-in thresholds for various things that try to stop maximum allowed sessions per user exchange 2013 bad user behavior or a client behaving badly to not use all resources on the server to make other users suffer. You can try to change client configuration for users experiencing this problems by changing https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2742012 cached mode on/off and also for extra mailboxes opened, outlook add-ons might also cause this. upgrading clients to newer version might also help, but sometime you cant change what users do and you must change limits instead. How to change limits You change limits by registry values and Microsoft has a TechNet article that describe these values Exchange Store Limits. The key here is to read the error text and find what http://anewmessagehasarrived.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-famous-9646-error-on-exchange.html threshold exceeded its limit, then read the TechNet article and implement a new threshold by editing registry values. One problem here is to decide what limits you should set, unfortunately you have to set a value and then see if its working or not. To have it all working you must restart Exchange services so don't count on this working until a restart is done. Article don't cover Exchange server 2013 but the same limits apply and also the same solution to add/edit registry values on your mailbox servers. Solved Exchange Event ID 9646 exceed max 500 objtFolderView Posted on 2014-05-07 Exchange Email Protocols Email Servers 1 Verified Solution 5 Comments 5,118 Views exchange 2010 Last Modified: 2015-03-09 We have some users who connect to about 5 shared folders in addition to their own. They are on Outlook 2013 to on prem Exchange 2010. Their mailboxes were not updating yesterday and traced it down to error 9646. I increased the max mapi sessions to 600 and it solved the issues but I don't really understand what went wrong or what the underlying event id 9646 problem really is with this. I am thinking they have a lot of folders in these mailboxes and perhaps that is the problem, too many folders to keep synced however I would like to verify this as the issue. Can anyone point me in the right direction towards tracing this down? Google has not turned up any relevant answer in my searching for the root cause of this or what constitutes a mapi connection. When users have over 500 folders in their exchange profile (so their own mailbox PLUS any shared mailboxes) combined exchange will stop syncing. If possible leverage auto-archive options. If not possible and you network isn't to big (<50 users) and your server has specs which aren't to outdated just raise the limit to 1000-2000. 0 LVL 28 Overall: Level 28 Exchange 9 Email
