The server does DC setup /preparead /organizationname on test environment (Virtual Machine). I installed all prerequisites successfully. When I launch Exchange setup, it fails on the readiness checked. It says : setup is going to prepare the organization for exchange 2010 by using 'setup /preparead' The active directory must be modified with "setup /prepareAD". When I run "setup /prepareAD", with elevated cmd, it says: error occurred. I've tried everything I know so far. No go! Please help. install. This is a new clean install. 0 Serrano OP James R. Howard Nov 14, 2013 at 9:04 UTC Don't forget to make sure you right-click on the setup and choose "Run as Administrator". I have had this come back to bite my on a lot of the Server 2008/2012 installers and MMC's. Some will kick in UAC and prompt for the elevation, most do not and will cause a lot of functions to fail. 0 Sonora OP Laila83b Nov 14, 2013 at 9:09 UTC James, I did that already. I ran setup as admin. Nope, still fails. This is driving me nuts! 0 Jalapeno OP Zarghoul Nov 14, 2013 at 9:10 UTC Hmmm, that is odd then. This same server is a DC, correct? Then I can't even suggest running the command on another DC... Just to be sure, you tried to run the command with a Domain Admin account? And if this is a new install there shouldn't already be any Exchange containers causing problems that would require ADSI edit... Is there an error code on the screen or in the setup logs? 0 Anaheim OP CoffeeTime Nov 14, 2013 at 9:12 UTC I just installed a test Server 2012 R2 as a domain in a VM and installed another test Server 2012 R2 VM that I installed a clean Exchange 2010 SP3 on. I tried using setup.com
