BySybren Apr 18, 2012 Post New Reply Hi! First of all, I hard disk don't know for sure if this is the right topic. If not, I'm sorry! Since a few hours ago my pc won't completely boot. I'm getting a 3rd slave hard disk error. And in the bios it states this: Primary IDE Master: Not Detected Primary IDE Slave: Not Detected SATA 1: Optiarc DVD RW AD- SATA 2: WDC ROM MODEL-BUCC I have a Asus P5KPL-AM IN/ROEM motherboard and hard disk error I've got 0 knowledge about pc's Apr 18, 2012 #1 ComputerGuy55 TS Maniac Posts: 380 +8 If it is saying Disk 3 is having an error then I would either disconnect, or disable the 3rd drive. A bad drive could stall windows and prevent it from fully loading. Hopefully the 3rd drive is not the one with your OS on it. Apr 18, 2012 #2 Sybren TS Rookie Topic Starter Well I thinks it's the only disk I have, I've disconnected it reconnected it and my OS is on it. Should i reinstall windows? causes a 3rd Master Hard Disk Error?UpdateCancelAnswer Wiki3 Answers Mark Hahn, computer guyWritten 55w agoWhat do you mean? Do you mean that you've lost three disks, sequentially, in a short period of time? If so, either you're buying crappy disks and have bad luck, or something about your system is murderous to disks.Conventional "desktop" disks are designed for low-intensity usage during an 8-hour, 5-day week. Using them for anything else is just asking for trouble (ie, running a server like torrent/web/mail). Besides this kind of abuse, there are other more environmental factors that can accelerate disk failure: bad power, probably temperature extremes or swings, vibration, even too short a spindown timer.327 ViewsRelated QuestionsMore Answers BelowWhat is hard disk error? My computer says Smart Hard Disk Error? What causes a Hard Disk 1 (301)?How can I fix HP hard disk error 303 - 305?How should I fix my WD External Hard Disk error? David A Kelly, Built six fairly high performance PCs over 10 years, LAN & wireless.Written 26w agoSounds like you have a system with multiple hard drives, and you have them identified so #3 is the Master, and #1 and #2 are the slave HD's. You will see this when you access the BIOS screens (is that still press Delete during startup?). It was so routine using slower computers and earlier operating systems, and I have had no need to access these in recent years.I think your Master HD will or should be where your operating system resides. It is also where the pointers to direct operations to and from every other device will be saved (that is why the others are called slaves). Have you used CHKDSK on that drive to determine if it has bad sectors? I would have to go to one of my PCs and see whatever there is on BIOS screens.....
