I am currently having a problem with my PC. As far as I gather it's a custom build I got from one of the "rent to own" style places. It worked great for the two years I had it. But much like vehicles, as soon as it's paid off, things went wrong. I ended up somehow frying the motherboard and got it replaced for free due to still being under warranty.

I have posted dis problem yester day in hardware price check(kolkata) but mods had deleted my posts(may be bcoz it was in worng section)now 'megamind' suggested me that either your sata cable is faulty or hdd or mobo after that i had interchanged the cable between dvd rw and hdd error still appear after that i uses diffrent sata port but the error still apper for hdd. I think that hdd faulty and not the sata cable and mobo bocz error only appear for hdd in the sata port which properly detects the dvd writer(i have exchanged the sata ports between dvd rw and hdd). Guys suggest me some solution. Although hdd showed up in main menu of BIOS Guys

Apr 27, 2011 #1 Dfresh [H]Lite Messages: 79 Joined: Mar 22, 2004 I http://forums.vr-zone.com/troubleshooting-zone-technical-enquiries/743606-3rd-slave-hard-disk-error.html have a system running with just 1 SATA WD5000AAKS drive and a DVD burner on the first two SATA channels. I had an old dish network DVR that couldn't be activated, but it had a 500GB WD5000AAJS hard drive hard disk in it. So I yanked it out and plugged it into my box with no connection issues on the third SATA channel. When booting the POST sometimes picks it up with no problems and other times takes a couple minutes and finally says "3rd Slave Hard Disk Error". It gives me the option to press F1 to continue and when I boot into linux it's able to see it. Managed to go into gparted and delete all partitions hard disk error then create a new one and format it with no problems. Even when booting into linux when the slave error pops up it's still able to mount it and read/write to it. If it boot into the windows xp OS it is able to see it, but I haven't confirmed yet if windows will see it if the slave error comes up on POST. Anyone have any ideas on this or what I should check? It just says "4th Slave Hard Disk Error" at POST when it's trying to recognize all the drives. Very strange that the OS is still able to access it though. This drive was meant for

Just a few minutes ago, I booted up my PC and everything was working fine until it hanged. I proceeded to do a hard reboot and both my hard disks were detected in BIOS but this error appeared. Is it too late? Is it possible to recover the data? I tried booting up without the problem drive and it booted without any problems. Btw, this happened before where my D drive suddenly disappeared and after I replugged the SATA cable, it appeared again. Thanks in advance.
