In both the cases, Exchange Server cannot access the source database and you face this issue. Please try the resolution on this link to see if it will work http://www.ms-exchange-server-recovery.com/blog/resolving-%E2%80%9Caccess-to-source-database-failed-with-jet-error%E2%80%9D-in-exchange-server You can try resolving this problem using Eseutil /p command line tool or by restoring the database again from backup. If possible, move unaffected files from problem database to new database. If the above method does not work, you need to repair and restore corrupt Exchange Server database using advanced and powerful third-party applications, known as Exchange recovery software. [MSFT]May 10, 20133 0 0 0 Recently I was playing for a VSS issue at my Exchange Server 2010 environment – when I run the ESEUtil (with its parameter /mh) command then jet_errfileaccessdenied exchange 2010 I got the error “Jet error –1032”. > eseutil /mh "D:\Temp\tempdb.edb" Extensible Storage

Access to source database ‘D:\Temp\tempdb.edb’ failed with Jet error -1032. The error code –1032 points to JET_ERRFileAccessDenied, which tells us that I cannot access the file, as the file is locked or in use. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/bcd9e403-9bac-49e9-965c-40bf42bf56c1/errors-running-eseutil?forum=exchange2010 This is the first time I noticed the issue at my end. When I investigated further I realized the issue - I have mounted the database and ran the ESEUtil. The database needs to be offline to read the header information. So I dismounted the database and ran the ESEUtil worked like a charm – bingo!! Happy debugging!! We had a storage failure last week and the exchange server 2007 went down. i restored a backup from august. that went fine. I managed jet error to get the data of my mailbox database.edb, but this mailbox is single without any tansaction logs or catalog data or anything. but i am sure that i have done to it an eseutil /p and i am sure that its state is clean shutdown. the problem is that i can't execute the command eseutil /mh to see its state. it keeps telling me Initiating FILE DUMP mode... access to source Error: Access to source database 'c:\mailbox database.edb' failed with Jet error -1022. Operation terminated with error -1022 (JET_errDiskIO, Disk IO error) after 0.203 seconds. The main point is that i want to merge it with the existing one so none of my mails are gone. can i just dismount the current one and mount this one? OR shall i do anything else? Help is appreciated. _____________________________Wazzz!!! It would be better if you restore the data from last good known backup.
