[MSFT]May 10, 20133 0 0 0 Recently I was playing for a VSS issue at my Exchange Server 2010 environment – when I run the ESEUtil (with its

parameter /mh) command then I got the error “Jet error –1032”. > jet error 1032 exchange 2013 eseutil /mh "D:\Temp\tempdb.edb" Extensible Storage Engine Utilities for Microsoft(R) Exchange Server Version 14.00 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. Initiating FILE DUMP mode… Error: Access to source database ‘D:\Temp\tempdb.edb’ failed with Jet error -1032. The error code –1032 points to JET_ERRFileAccessDenied, which tells us that I cannot access the file,

as the file is locked or in use. This is the first time I noticed the issue at my end. When I investigated further I realized the issue - I have mounted the database and ran the ESEUtil. The database needs to be offline to read the header information. So I dismounted the database and ran the ESEUtil worked like a charm – bingo!!

ESEUTIL error 1032 Posted on 2013-05-11 Exchange MS Legacy OS Windows Server 2008 1 Verified Solution 6 Comments 5,287 Views Last Modified: 2016-05-17 Hello- jet error We've got a machine that had a power failure and the Exchange Database won't mount after startup. No matter what I do, I can't get ESEUTIL to address the database. -I have tried running ESEUTIL /p, and I have tried both Command Prompt and Exchange Management Shell both running as Administrator. I tried deleting the log files as well. Below is the error I get when trying to run jet error 1032 ESEUTIL. [PS] C:\Windows\system32>eseutil /p "E:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Exchsvr\Mailbox Database 1258094299" Extensible Storage Engine Utilities for Microsoft(R) Exchange Server Version 14.02 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. Operation terminated with error -1032 (JET_errFileAccessDenied, Cannot access file, the file is locked or in use) after 20.31 seconds. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks/ 0 Question by:slevin10 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution byslevin10 Thanks for all the feedback guys. Ultimately the fix was to copy the database to a separate location, run the ESEUTIL /p repair on the database and then copy it back. We have seen this error sometimes and stopping the service seems to fix it. This error is caused when something is using the database and has a lock on it. Make sure AV or backup software isn't using the file. Let us know how that goes! 0 Message Author Comment by:slevin102013-05-11 Thanks, but unfortunately no luck.

I have tried to run eseutil repair and I get this message Operation terminated with error -1032 (JET_errFileAccessDenied,Cannot access file, the file is locked or in use) I have dismounted the exchange store, moved the file to another volume to be sure nothing was accessing the file but I still get the same message.
