In one of the Storage Groups, I have 4 private stores. For one of these stores, the daily backup fails with the following in the application log: Event Type:Error Event Source:ESE Event Category:Logging/Recovery Event ID:217 Date:14/09/2005 Time:2:16:59 PM User:N/A Computer:CALEXNODE01 Description: Information Store (3280) SG2 - Edmonton: Error (-4001) during backup of a database (file K:\EXCHSRVR\SG2\SG2-Store4.edb). The database will be unable to restore. I then dismount this store and run "eseutil /g" on it, with the following result: C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\bin>eseutil /g K:\EXCHSRVR\SG2\SG2-Store4.edb /t M:\te mpinteg004.edb Microsoft(R) Exchange Server Database Utilities Version 6.5 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\bin> After that, I run "eseutil /p" on the store, and after a few minutes, this process completes successfully and the store is apparently repaired. I then re-mount and backup the store, this time successfully. However, the next day the whole thing repeats itself: Backup fails, the application log has the "Event ID:217" error described above, and anESEUTIL integrity check shows corruption. I am uncertain about the best approach to this problem. Can ISINTEG provide better diagnostics and/or repair capabilities for this particularprobl

Your only option if you wish to try to get this store up is to run eseutil /p. This might get it to startup but the hard repair doesn't always work. There is always varying degrees of data loss with the hard repair. After running the hard repair you need to take atleast 3 passes of isinteg -fix -test alltests and then offline defrag. If you don't do these addition steps the store might fire up but it won't be production reliable... scripts was not working properly.
