I have just put a Microsoft Access file onto a network drive here at work. When one of the users opens the file (the others haven't tried yet) she gets the following error pop up... "Could not lock file". I've heard this could be a permissions issue so went in and gave all of the users full-control within that folder. I could not lock then had the user with the error restart. Again, the same thing. Any ideas? When a database is shared, and a user goes to open it. Access will lock the database so if another user connects they wont be able to conflict in their work. Her problem doesnt reside in opening it, her error resides in locking it after she opens it. So, either the permissions on the database are incorrect, or the permissions in the folder are incorrect.... Will you post a copy of the database? And I will test it. www.google.com - Pay Tribute. Users should not be opening the database for exclusive use which is what the message sound like to me. I'm just trying to figure out what's causing this? A setting on their local PC, something with the link? I'm more on the non-tech side but trying to help the user out on this. None of the other dozen plus users have a problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Regardless, your problem sounds like Possibility 1 or 2 above (if it's 1 specific user and no other users have problems and that user gets the error every time.) If it happens randomly with this user (and other users), it could then be another
