Cant Create A Lock File
1[add] Re: No ttyUSB0 in arduino IDE Ubuntu #15 May 25, 2010, 04:10 pm Ok,now what is the output unable to create lock file of the 'groups' command? It should list you as a member of group dialoutCode: [Select]
wayoda@rebooter:~$ groups
wayoda adm dialout cdrom plugdev lpadmin admin sambashare
if not add yourself to this groupCode: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php?topic=123902.0 [Select]
sudo adduser blaise dialout
and start the IDE to check if you can now see the boardEberhard Blaise Newbie Posts: 25 Karma: 1[add] babies love oscilloscopes The Blaise Blog Re: No ttyUSB0 in arduino IDE Ubuntu #16 May 25, 2010, 04:46 pm Code: [Select]blaise@king-desktop:~$ groups
blaise adm dialout cdrom plugdev lpadmin admin sambashare
just to be sure:Code: [Select]blaise@king-desktop:~$ sudo adduser blaise http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=49439.15 dialout
[sudo] password for blaise:
The user `blaise' is already a member of `dialout'.

thats what you meant by start up message, correct? It gives the same message for connected and unconnected arduino. wayoda God Member Posts: 896 Karma: 1[add] Re: No ttyUSB0 in arduino IDE Ubuntu #19 May 25, 2010, 08:47 pm This is what is causing the trouble. But
6.Debugging 7.Analysis 8.Use XCTU 9.Revised Test 10.Replication using a small test case 11.Analysis 12.See Also 1. https://chess.eecs.berkeley.edu/ptexternal/wiki/Main/RxTxErrorOpeningLockFile Summary Calling gnu.io.CommPortIdentifier.getPortIdentifiers() after opening a port will produce a message about locks: testRead() Lock file failed RXTX fhs_lock() Error: opening lock file: /var/lock/LCK..ttyUSB0: File exists. It is mine [$[Get Code]] What is happening is that the first time we call gnu.io.CommPortIdentifier.getPortIdentifiers(), everything is fine and we lock lock file the first port. Then, the second time we call gnu.io.CommPortIdentifier.getPortIdentifiers(), the first port is locked. Basically, this message can be ignored. A workaround would be to call gnu.io.CommPortIdentifier.getPortIdentifiers() only once. A better fix would be to have not print the lock message if we are enumerating through the ports because create lock file a port could be locked between the time we enumerate the ports and the time we actually try to open the port. 2. How to Repeat Under Ubuntu 14.04, running $PTII/bin/vergil $PTII/ptolemy/actor/lib/jjs/modules/serial/test/auto/SerialHelloWorld.xml The error messages appear: testRead() Lock file failed RXTX fhs_lock() Error: opening lock file: /var/lock/LCK..ttyUSB0: File exists. It is mine 3. Does the lock file exist? Does /var/lock/LCK..ttyUSB0 exist before you run the model? If so then remove it. Also, it could be that the XCTU process is holding the lock. Also, it could be that the model is referring to the same port in both actors. 4. SourceCode Ptolemy is using nrjavaserial. To get the sources, use: git clone https://github.com/NeuronRobotics/nrjavaserial.git To find the file: cd nrjavaserial find . -type f | xargs grep "opening lock file" The results include: ./src/main/c/src/SerialImp.c: "RXTX fhs_lock() Error: opening lock file: s.", ./src/main/c/src/SerialImp.c: "RXTX uucp_lock() Error: opening lock file: s\n", ./src/main/c/src/SerialImp.c:
