Availability Migration You are here: Home / Solutions / Exchange 2013 Test-Mailflow Error for Remote Mailbox ServersExchange 2013 Test-Mailflow Error for Remote Mailbox Servers August 23, 2013 by Paul Cunningham 3 Comments Following on from my last post about errors when running Test-ServiceHealth for Exchange 2013 Client Access servers, here is another PowerShell test cmdlet that behaves unexpectedly in Exchange 2013. Test-Mailflow, as the name suggests, is used to test mail flow for Mailbox servers. The TechNet page provides the following example syntax: Test-Mailflow Mailbox1 -TargetMailboxServer Mailbox2 What isn't documented is https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/238119 the error that occurs if you try to run that command when your PowerShell session is connected to a server other than "Mailbox1". [PS] C:\scripts>Test-Mailflow E15MB1 -TargetMailboxServer E15MB2 [Microsoft.Mapi.MapiExceptionSendAsDenied]: MapiExceptionSendAsDenied: Unable to submit message. (hr=0x80070005,ec=1244) This error did not occur in Exchange 2010 under the same conditions. As with the Test-ServiceHealth issues from my last post this situation is frustrating for http://exchangeserverpro.com/exchange-2013-test-mailflow-error-for-remote-mailbox-servers/ me because I use Test-Mailflow in my Test-ExchangeServerHealth.ps1 script. So I needed to find a way to still perform the test while avoiding the error. The solution was found by using PowerShell remoting. I've written this proof of concept code to demonstrate how remoting can be used to get a result for Test-Mailflow. Note this is demo code only and is not intended to be a functional script. I will be incorporating this code into Test-ExchangeServerHealth.ps1 in the near future. #Proof of concept code to test mail #flow on remote E15 servers [CmdletBinding()] param ( [Parameter( Mandatory=$false)] [string]$Server ) Write-Verbose "Creating PSSession for $server" try { $url = (Get-PowerShellVirtualDirectory -Server $server | Where {$_.Name -eq "Powershell (Default Web Site)"}).InternalURL.AbsoluteUri $session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri $url -ErrorAction STOP } catch { Write-Verbose "Something went wrong" Write-Warning $_.Exception.Message EXIT } try { Write-Verbose "Running mail flow test on $Server" $result = Invoke-Command -Session $session {Test-Mailflow} -ErrorAction STOP $testresult = $result.TestMailflowResult } catch { Write-Verbose "An error occurred" Write-Warning $_.Exception.Message EXIT } Write-Host "Mail flow test: $testresult" Write-Verbose "Removing PSSession" Remove-PSSession $session.Id Here

No, the Built in domain admin account is always not the best account. Quite frankly I mapi error code am too not sure what groups a user should be a member of to carry on a Move request but fortunately I know how to resolve this issue without going there. Coming back to the issue , following is the error we are talking about today Service ‘net.tcp://ex.contoso.local/Microsoft.Exchange.MailboxReplicationService' encountered an exception. Any ideas as to what would cause this? If not then please check this article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd361736.aspx Are there any events logged in the event log about updating the OAB? _____________________________Best regards, Johan Veldhuis Visit my Exchange blog (in reply to phuser) Post #: 2 RE: Offline Address Book 0x80070005 - 6.Aug.2009 8:36:05 AM phuser Posts: 3 Joined: 5.Aug.2009 Status: offline I went through the technet article, CN=Folder Hierarchies exists in the correct place. We do not really use the public folders for anything on our exchange server, but I created a folder to test and that seems to work fine. The only message I saw regarding the address book in the event log was a warning: OALGen skipped some entries in the offline address list '\Global Address List'. To see which entries are affected, event logging for the OAL Generator must be set to at least medium. But if I manually update the offline address book I get the message that it completed successfully in the statusbar. To enable logging perform the following steps: - select the Tools menu, click Options. - select the othertab, click Advanced Options. - Click to select the Enable mail logging (troubleshooting) check box in Outlook 2003 and the Enable logging (troubleshooting) check box in Outlook 2007, and then click OK two times. _____________________________Best regards, Johan Veldhuis Visit my Exchange blog (in reply to phuser) Post #: 4 RE: Offline Address Book 0x80070005 - 6.Aug.2009 3:31:12 PM phuser Posts: 3 Joined: 5.Aug.2009 Status: offli
