after IIS reinstall Previous Versions of Exchange > Exchange Previous Versions - High Availability event id 7000 and Disaster Recovery Question 0 Sign in to vote Hi All, Please note I am a very basic Exchange user indeed. As you will see from the following. I have Windows SBS 2003 Standard Edition with SP2 loaded. I needed to reinstall Intranet / Sharepoint. In order to do so, I needed to uninstall IIS. I uninstalled IIS, reinstalled IIS and then successfully installed Intranet. Echange 2003 then broke with the following error "Could not start the Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine Service on Local Computer. Error 1083: The executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service." From reading other articles I believe the Metabase is corrupt. I have a full Windows Backup from yesterday however I do not specifically do an MMC backup. Is there a way to recover Exchange without having to reinstall Exchange? I do not know how to reconfigure Exchange (was done by another person when server purchased). Can you resinstall Exchange and then restore Exchange data from an Exchange backup. Please help. I am looking for the most simple recovery process. Thank-you so much. Been having exchange issues ever since. I reinstalled exchange, and applied the service pack, yet the routing engine service still does https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/23193505/Exchange-routing-engine-wont-start.html not start. It gives the error : "error 1083:The executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service" Any help? The underlying problem is that the outlook clients can connect to the exchange server, but no mail is being recieved by them... hopefully if I can get this resolved it will fix the overall issue. I had to edit this because, i forgot to mention, I have reinstalled exchange on this server as per MS Knowledge base, and this failed to help. 0 Question by:ict4usa Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution byict4usa wound up fixinbg it by doing a "disaster recovery" reinstall, rather than jsut a "reinstall" of echange... not sure what the actual differences are, but when i selected disaster recovery instead of "reinstall" Go to Solution 3 Comments LVL 15 Overall: Level 15 Exchange 14 SBS 4 Message Expert Comment by:abhaigh2008-02-26 try the following http://kbalertz.com/277770/Event-Occurs-Attempting-Start-Exchange-Services.aspx 0 Message Accepted

I have followed TechNet's guide and have used the Windows 2003 Server CDs to reinstall Exchange using the /disasterrecovery setting, but that doesn't seem to make any difference. windows-server-2003 exchange-2003 share|improve this question asked Nov 23 '09 at 22:03 Brett Rigby 212212 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted the exchange routing engine depends on the iis admin service. is the iis admin service running? microsoft exchange routing are there any error messages when you manually try to start the exchange routing engine service? are there any events in the event log related to the routing engine? have you recently made changes to or had problems with iis on the server? are you able to start the imap or pop3 services? share|improve this answer answered Nov 24 '09 at 1:13 joeqwerty 83.6k247122 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote Are you getting any particular error message?
