there has been an issue lately were by they are unable to use the calendar in outlook 2013. Every time they go to add a something into the calendar outlook crashes. Disabling https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124587(v=exchg.141).aspx the Microsoft Exchange Add-in fixes the problem and everything including the calendar works fine. After look round on the internet i cant find much at all about the Microsoft Exchange add-in. I wanted to know if it is going to cause them any issues in the future by having this add-in disabled and if so is there anything i can do to amend the https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/4302dadc-23b7-4034-9780-1c0b9af3b5fa/microsoft-exchange-addin-causing-outlook-to-crash?forum=exchangesvrclients add-in. Thank you in advance. Friday, October 17, 2014 6:59 AM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Hi Joshua, As what Sathish says, the Microsoft Exchange Add-in is Exchange support for Unified Messaging, e-mail permission rules, and calendar availability. Generally, it would not cause any issue. Please change a computer for the problematic user to have a try. Please make sure the latest patches and service packs are installed for the Outlook 2013. We can collect any event logs in Event Viewer for further analysis. Additionally, here are some similar cases for your reference: Outlook 2013 crashes when you use the calendar http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2931904 Outlook 2013 crashes when opening a Calendar meeting http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-outlook/outlook-2013-crashes-when-opening-a-calendar/2880978c-398a-4b3d-a486-d927783ca3c1 Regards,Winnie Liang TechNet Community Support

So, yeah, you need it. You may look at this link as well: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/lync/en-US/f1169614-0030-494f-bbcf-a04491087952/user-unable-twith integration with Skype for Business and CUCM, everything was working great and http://www.alsheppard.com/2014/11/voice-mail-in-outlook-2013-wont-play-on-phone.html then it just stopped. (with and without SP1), there is a Play on Phone option that is meant to ring their phone and play the voice mail. However, when they click on that, the following error pops up. The Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging service cannot be contacted to play messages on your phone. Try again later. If this problem continues, contact your Exchange administrator or support organisation. Being that I administer our Exchange 2010, I got lumped with finding out why it wasn't working. It took a while to check certificates etc between Lync servers, the UM servers, CAS boxes and the O365 end points and they all looked fine. There was no error messages in any server logs either. Interestingly, if I did the same "Play on phone" action from the Office 365 Outlook Web interface it worked meaning that at least from off site, the certificates were fine and everything was talking. After another look at the client with Wireshark, I noticed that there was no network traffic when you click the button which lead me to looking at the Outlook client. Testing a few hotfixes later and it seems that KB2880477 is the answer. There is no mention of the issue in that KB but the version of the Outlook 2013 SP1 add-in "Microsoft Exchange Add-in"'s UmOutlookAddin.dll changed from 15.0.4569.1503 to 15.0.4629.1000 and the Play on Phone now works.
