Monitor an unlimited number of servers with $49/year With the current low prices for servers and the need for processing power, even a small company may end up with quite a few of them. If ten years ago it was still common to see an entire the system failed to register host (a or aaaa) resource records (rrs) company using just one server, these days that's no longer the case. New computers are the system failed to register host (a or aaaa) 8018 added to the network with the understanding that they will be taken care of by the admins. Keeping an eye on these servers is the system failed to register host (a or aaaa) 8015 a tedious, time-consuming process. Even with 5 minutes per server (to check the logs and other parameters), it may take an hour to make sure that everything is ok and no "red lights" are blinking on any of the servers. event id 8016 read more... You can manually retry DNS registration of the network adapter and its settings by typing "ipconfig /registerdns" at the command prompt. If problems still persist, contact your DNS server or network systems administrator. English: This information is only available to subscribers. An example of English, please! Comments: Rutledge IT Support User travels to different states with different time zones. It never happened before but suddenly started getting the mentioned error and he was unable to browse to data on server. He could browse data on other computer (not servers). As suggested by Brian Collins we removed the laptop from domain and deleted its account on server. We re-joined the laptop to domain and it fixed the problem. So it worked without any registry changes or time change. x 51 Carl Buckley As one of the previous posts suggested, check the permissions for the A record are not owned by the wrong machine or a deleted account (characterized by unknown SID message). I have changed the IP on a machine, but when I try to ping it it comes up with it's old IP. And I get this error in event log: Event ID: 11163 Source: DnsApi Description: The system failed to register host (A) resource records (RRs) for network adapter with settings: Adapter Name : {BF5345B2-F4F5-46AB-88E7-682A124CFA23} Host Name : Primary Domain Suffix : my.domain.corp.com DNS server list : 10.130.1.30, 10.130.1.31 Sent update to server : 10.1.1.1 IP Address(es) : 10.130.11.193 The cause of this DNS registration failure was because of DNS server failure. This may be due to a zone transfer that has locked the DNS server for the applicable zone that your computer needs to register itself with. (The applicable zone should typically correspond to the Adapter-specific Domain Suffix that was indicated above.) You can manually retry registration of the network adapter and its settings by typing "ipconfig /registerdns" at the command prompt. If problems still persist, contact your network systems administrator to verify network conditions. I have tried this: ipconfig /flushdns too many times and the old ip is still in DNS. I´m trying this too: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;826743 But i don´t know if i have a single-label DNS (What is this?) I think this machine has a damaged file (it was ghosted) or a duplicated SPN. Any suggestions? T
