When I get the error all websites on the servers are stopped until I run ipconfig/registerdns.The servers have static IP's so I disabled DHCP. the system failed to register pointer (ptr) resource records (rrs) for network adapter I deletedA records for the servers on the DNS server and rebooted everything. I unchecked register this connection's address in DNSfor the particular network adapters. Nothing seems to solve the problem long term.Pete Valiante Wednesday, December 14, 2011 7:04 PM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote This is a security related problem. Your dns clients does not have permission to update their records. Are you working with secure/non secure dynamic updates? The cause of this could be (a) your computer does not have permissions to register and update the specific DNS domain name set for this adapter, or (b) there might have been a problem negotiating valid credentials with the DNS server during the processing of the update request. As you have mentioned that you have deleted the host record from DNS and unchecked register this connection's address in DNSfor the particular network adapters. Ensure the following on

For some reason these were showing as "192.168.100.190", which was clearly incorrect. Doesn't tell us what caused the problem, but it did solve it! share|improve this answer answered May 27 '09 at 12:36 Rob 556524 add a comment| up vote -1 down vote please check for suggstions/possible solutions here: eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=11166&eventno=3393&source=DnsApi&phase=1 share|improve this answer answered May 27 '09 at 11:06 Sergey 1,9461113 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting yo

A secondary DC was built and all roles switched i.e. DC-01 is now GC abd holds FSMO roles new DC is a GC but holds no FSMO roles. All servers in the domain are configured to the system failed use DC-01 and DC-01 as their DNS servers. Since this introdiction of the new DC (dc-02) we have been getting entries on some server eventlogs - I donot think it is an issue but would like to confirm this and how do I remove these entries . The reason the system could not register these RRs was because of a security related problem. The cause of this could be (a) your computer does not have permissions to register and update the specific DNS domain name set for this adapter, or (b) there might have been a problem negotiating valid credentials with the DNS server during the processing of the update request.
You can manually retry DNS registration of the network adapter and its settings by typing "ipconfig /registerdns" at the command prompt. If problems still persist, contact your DNS server or network systems administrator. For specific error code, see the record data displayed below. Solution by EventLog Doctor 2009-04-25 22:29:28 UTC We got this error daily on a host where Windows 2008 had been installed twice in a short time period, resulting in wrong security permissions for the DNS A record. When Windows was installed the 2nd time, the DNS record already existed on the DNS server, and the security permissions were not correctly adjusted - the computer account (YOURSERVER$ in this case) did not have permission to modify the record. Simply right-click the A record in DNS, select properties, select security and make sure that the respective computer account has full control/read/write permission for its own record. In our case, there was no ACE for the computer account at all, and it needed to be added. User Information Only an Email address is required for returning users.
