Having to reboot my VM to unlock the hosting process for a Win Forms exe project. –Gone Coding Oct 14 '14 at 9:16 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 11 down vote accepted This is an issue that Microsoft isn't going to fix, according to this post: http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/508695/cannot-delete-the-bin-folder-from-solution-explorer They were going to make the error message more intuitive but I guess that didn't happen. Update: Microsoft has since deleted this page. Here is a cached copy: https://web.archive.org/web/20130825001252/http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/508695/cannot-delete-the-bin-folder-from-solution-explorer The message from microsoft is as follows: Posted by Microsoft on 11/20/2009 at 11:54 AM Thank you for your feedback. This is because we cannot delete the folder with the hosting process in it. However, the error message can definitely be smarter. We will not be able to address this in the VS2010 timeframe but I am resolving this as a postpone so that we can consider improving the error message post-VS2010. Thank you for contacting us. For customers who freshly start out with USV at their first logon to a computer, this works http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5925124/error-deleting-folder-bin-the-system-call-level-is-not-correct just fine. For customers we move into USV after they already have a profile, these event log errors are created. Prior to USV, RUP was NOT used & AppData was redirected to path A (see below), but Start Menu was NOT redirected out of AppData. All other redirected folders are working just https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/4d0ba6ce-f202-4dc0-93f9-406cec29cd30/the-system-call-level-is-not-correct-folder-redirection?forum=winserverGP fine. They include a mix of previously redirected folders whose location changed and freshly redirected folders. For all previously redirected folders, I prestaged the data in the new location andcleared the CSC (client side cache). For AppData, I could never get that to work so I'm trying to rely on policy to move the data. Permissions on the directories are fine. We've tried it with creator owner having full control to no avail. I know about setting the owner and forcing inheritance of the owner and acl, so I'm doubting this is a permissions problem... That said, I'm stuck. I can't figure out what's happening. "The system call level is not correct" seems to be the key message in the error, but I can't find anyone through searcheswho has figured out what it means. Help please? 04, 2008 4:51 am Post subject: Archive issue with (what appears to be) Windows Server 2008 Hello all. Decent amount of VV http://www.tgrmn.com/web/forum/viewtopict2204.htm use but a first time poster. Setup: I use VV to have laptops https://forums.manageengine.com/topic/error-deleting-home-folder-while-deleting-user-object and desktops backup a local folder to an on-site file server. All end user computers are runing Vista SP1 and the VVEngine is set to run as a service with an account that has local administrative rights and full control on the target. I do this so the VSS the system service can run and backup files in realtime. There is also an archive setup in the VV profile that keeps the last 10 copies of a modified file on the server. Problem: When the file server was Windows 2003, the archive function worked fine. It would keep the last 10 copies and discard any over the 10th. Since then, the server the system call has been changed to Windows 2008. All functions of VV work fine, except for the archive. The archived files that are supposed to be deleted are not, and stay on the server. The VV error log gives this message for each file that can't be erased. 2008-06-03 18:02:58 : Deleting file unc\*edited per company policy*archive test\archive test.docx_(2008-05-19_00-27-34_ove_t).docx [Can not delete "unc\*edited per company policy*archive test\archive test.docx_(2008-05-19_00-27-34_ove_t).docx". The system call level is not correct.] [ERROR]. I can't seem to find any information on this error. If there is any other information I can provide to help, please let me know.
