way of debugging why the driver fails. The drivers are shared from a Windows 2003 R2 server, and our

The full URL of the driver is http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=431039&prodNameId=431042&swEnvOID=2093&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=pl-28280-4 Wednesday, September 02, 2009 8:01 AM Reply | Quote Answers 8 Sign in to vote I http://lat8533.blogspot.com/2006/08/big-31-print-server-device-error.html consulted with an HP print driver developer, he was the one who suggested deleting the key. That was in 2005. It has not caused aproblem since. The hot fix corrects an issue when the print driver changes the default file location and the spooler does not reset and loses track of where the next file is. The issue you are hitting is https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/6c68f4d3-fa4c-4986-9567-bbe89551652f/windows-7-windows-cannot-connect-to-the-printer-0x0000007e?forum=winserverprint a setting on the printer that points to a 32bit version of a driver file which the 64 client bit machine (your client should be 64 bit) will not download. HP does not setup the pointer to the file when installing the printer using the 64bit version of the driver on the server so they have addressed this when installing the printer on 64bit. The reg key on the machine sharing the printer is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers\PRINTERNAME\CopyFiles\BIDI there will be an entry for spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\hpcpn6de.dll which you can delete so the clients can connect. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/winserverprint/thread/44CA5958-4588-4710-B231-A4A5EBDB3611 Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Edited by Alan MorrisEditor Sunday, March 27, 2011 5:10 PM added Proposed as answer by Greg Malleus Tuesday, April 26, 2011 4:05 PM Unproposed as answer by Greg Malleus Tuesday, April 26, 2011 4:05 PM Marked as answer by Alan MorrisEditor Wednesday, April 27, 2011 12:05 AM Sunday, March 27, 2011 5:07 PM Reply | Quote Answerer 4 Sign in to vote Hi, Thanks for the post. One is using Windows Vista Sp1 x64 over an nvdia motherboard (and nvidia usb) with an addon pci card with via usb chipset on it. The other is a Windows Server 2008 x32 over a Via motherboard. Both operating systems are updated to the last version.I downloaded the demo version of UtEC windows cannot to try it out before buying. Installation went fine. Program stardted and connected to service also without rebooting: wonderful right? Ehm ... no!When i tryed to share an usb from the Server 2008 or the Vista machine i always got the error."Error: Unable to share specific usb port. Unable to restart USB device"I also tryed without the device in the port to share the empty port. Same error. So i tought... maybe we need a windows cannot connect reboot?I rebooted both machines and SUPRISED i noticed the service wont start anymore! BOTH the services on both machines.Error 1053: a timeout error meaning that the service didnt respond in time saying that it started... and in fact it crashed. So i looked for DEP, thinking it was it to block the services. I disabled but nothing changed. So i think eltima has a big problem on this side and i want to help to sort it out.If there is a beta testing program i would like to do test and other things (i have been betatester for a bouch of microsoft programs, also Windows XP).Thank you for the attention, best regards,Tommaso Logged Tina Guest Re: USB to Ethernet Connector big problems « Reply #1 on: July 08, 2008, 10:49:12 AM » I have just replied to your e-mail.
