Windows Cannot Start The Windows Firewall
of 7 trojins, is there any fix? Reports: · Posted 4 years ago Top Xhi Posts: 6298 This post has been reported. The first thing I would do is run sfc /scannow. Go to Start -> Run -> Type in: windows firewall error 1068 the dependency service failed to start sfc /scannow (with a space after sfc) then click ok. let it run. You may need your Windows XP install disk. If that does not help then The web page "Error 2" when starting the Windows Firewall service seems to have a pretty good answer. If you do not understand the instructions on this page come back and ask. We'll be here. Do you want to start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service?" I click "Yes" and it says "Windows cannot start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service." So far I have tried Method 1 and 2 on Microsoft's pagehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/920074 (Even though this did not start due to a SP2 installation) Reinstalled SP3 (I have not reinstalled SP2 specifically since SP3 usually covered that) <---If thats the issue then shame on me. I have also tried cmd >Netsh winsock reset (Recommendation from another forum) I have tried starting the 'Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)' in Administrative Tools > Services >Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) which does say stop. This comes back with "Could not start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service on Local Computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified." I'm assuming this is the current cause of the internet not working on the computer as well. I've done alot of work on the computer and if needed I can list all that I've done so far. This
