refer to the error received when trying to sync with the desktop ActiveSync. A common error when trying to setup a mobile device to sync with Exchange 2003 is 85010014. This is generic error that http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mobiledevices/forum/mdupdate/activesync-error-code-85010014/6bdfd766-4d2d-4414-b8a1-0156941182d7 can actually mean a number of things. There are a number of standard tests and best practises that you can carry out to resolve the error. First and foremost, does Outlook Mobile Access (OMA) work?EAS and OMA share some of the same core functionality. In most cases if one works, so will the other. It is also easier to see error messages in Internet Explorer/Pocket Internet Explorer than in ActiveSync, http://exchange.sembee.info/2003/activesync/85010014.asp which often gives a cryptic error message and not much else. OMA can be tested on both Internet Explorer on the device and on your desktop.Browse to http://host.example.com/oma (where host.example.com is the external name of your server) and see if the application loads correctly. If you get an error, particularly one about requiring SSL, then that can cause a problem. Is your SSL certificate trusted by the device? If you are using a home grown certificate then then answer will be no. You can test this by browsing to the https version of OMA using the same URL as above - https://host.example.com/oma and see if you get an SSL certificate prompt. The prompt will tell you what element the process is failing on. If you are using a home grown certificate then your best option is to switch to a certificate that is trusted by Windows Mobile 5.0. Certificates from GoDaddy are trusted and cost from US$29.99. You can get one from https://CertificatesForExchange.com/ . By using a trusted certificate you will have nothing to install on the device. The certificate is also good for OWA, RPC over HTTPS and securing anything else on the web site. Join Now All of a sudden at about 5pm last https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/32600-exchange-activesync-85010014-error night, I started getting the error code 85010014 on every one of my 30 mobile devices. OMA is not working on the server, from either internal or external access. The error message that http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/itanswers/activesync-error-code-0x85010014/ I get is " A System error has occurred while processing your request. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact your administrator." This is from IE and Firefox AFTER it authenticates. I have activesync error tried the steps in MS KB 817379, to no avail. I have been scouring the internet for about the last 5 hours or so and have tried about everything that I can think of, and everything that has been suggested in Experts Exchange, and a whole bunch of other places. I am not particularly skilled inreading IIS logs, but if told what to look for, I'm sure I can activesync error 85010014 find it. My setup is as follows: Server 2003 Enterprise R2 Exchange 2003 Enterprise No Front End Server Patches are currently up to date I am NOT using Forms Based Autehntication SSL is used but not required by IIS (port 80 inbound is blocked at the firewall, so only SSL is allowed. This was easier to implement than changning it in IIS and dealing with the ramifications) There have been no changes to the Exchange setup in a long time (several months) The server is scheduled to be rebooted tonight because of this. Doing it during the day will probably get me fired, or hung from a rafter. I feel like I have seen this before and the solution was some obsure checkbox someplace in IIS, but I'm trying to remember and coming up wiht nothing. I will gladly provide more informationa as requested. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Chris Reply Subscribe View Best Answer RELATED TOPICS: Is Disable Exchange ActiveSync by Default Possible?
