Currently, I can use Activesync to sync up Moto Q with Exchange 2003 sp2 via USB cable connected to a PC within our LAN. Now, I have setup a ISA server to test https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/3825741a-4616-4da6-a0ac-add29dc3a65a/active-sync-error-0x85010004-and-0x85010014?forum=exchangesvrmobilitylegacy Activesync from the Internet. When I try to sync up, I get the following error: Your account in Microsoft Exchange Server does not have permission to synchronize with your current settings. I have read through quite a few postings, and assuming your setup of Exchange OTA (over the air) has been reviewed, all roads lead to SSL certificates. In my case, even when the SSL checkbox is not checked I get that error. I have a certificate by XRamp, which is an intermediate of GlobalSign, so I might have to specifically import it. Also, because it's a wildcard certificate that might be the problem. I am in the process of contacting XRamp in case they have a solution since their customer support is good. It turned out to be an issue with the way that I had OWA configured. I had configured Outlook Web Access to use Forms Based Authentication under the Exchange Virtual Server Properties under
0x85010004 on the device. The error: Result:Your account in Microsoft Exchange Server does not have permission to synchronize with your current settings. Contact your Exchange Server administrator. Support code: 0x85010004 After hours of troubleshooting, deleting the ISA rule and recreating it, playing with the ISA web listener and Exchange's ActiveSync virtual directory settings, it turns out the server fqdn had a typo in the Public Name tab of the ISA rule. ISA responds to a HTTP request if the host header matches the Public Name - akin to host headers in IIS when publishing multiple web sites using a single IP address. About authentication settings on the web listener: The same web listener can be used for publishing OWA and ActiveSync. The Authentication settings for the listener can be set to HTML Form Authentication. At first look, this doesn't seem too intuitive given Exchange Server 2003's issues with Forms-Based Authentication and Exchange ActiveSync (KB 817379: Exchange ActiveSync and Outlook Mobile Access errors occur when SSL or forms-based authentication is required for Exchange Server 2003), but it works. This was not true in ISA 2004 so with ISA 2004 you could not put OWA and ActiveSync on the same listener.
