Another good trick I learned a little while ago that may help is to right-click the Outlook icon in the system tray while holding down Ctrl, which reveals an extra diagnostic option called 'Test E-mail Autoconfiguration'. That threw up a problem which very quickly led to the root cause when I last saw this error. Microsoft Exchange Error 0x8004010f is a very common problem among the MS Outlook users. When you try to synchronize your .ost http://outlook-exchange-server-errors.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-solve-exchange-error-0x8004010f.html file with your Exchange server mailbox to access your data, it shows some https://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/oabupdate.htm strange behavior. An Outlook .ost file is an exact replica of Exchange server mailbox, stored on client hard disk locally. Actually, when you synchronize with the Exchange Server mailbox, OST file is automatically converted into Outloook .pst file and is updated. However, if the synchronization process terminates due to any address book reason, conversion can not take place completely and you will not be able to access your mailbox. In such cases, you require to manually convert ost to pst using an advance third-party tool. When you try to synchronize your .ost file or Offline address list on Microsoft Exchange Server 2010/2007/2003 in MS Outlook 2003, you may get the below error message in offline address book Sync Issues folder: "0×8004010F An object could not be found" After encountering above error when you try to send an email, you receive further the following error message in Microsoft Office Outlook: "Task ‘Microsoft Exchange Server' reported error (0×8004010F): ‘The operation failed. An object could not be found.'" Exchange Error 0x8004010f This unexpected behavior of outlook terminates the process of synchronization and you can not connect to your Exchange Server mailbox. Furthermore, it stops OST to PST conversion process. Root of the problem: There are multiple reasons for why an Outlook e-mail client can receive this synchronization error. Some of the most common causes of this error are mentioned below: • Offline address book list objects have a missing or incorrect address list. • Offline address book list objects include missing address list. • Send/As permission changes in the store affect users accounts with no mailbox full rights to another mailbox. • Multiple OAB Version folders exist of the same type. • Clients are attempting to download the OAB files from a public folder store that have not received the replicated updates. • The OST f
is called the Offline Address Book and is being generated on the Exchange server.Due to various synching schedules, it can take up to 48 hours before you could actually see a change in Outlook after a modification has been made on the Exchange server or in Active Directory. In this guide, the relevant timings are explained and instructions are given in how you can directly force an update and resync, which can be very handy when troubleshooting or when you work in an Exchange environment which sees a lot of user mailbox mutations. The automatic sync and update schedulesUpdating Outlook manuallyModify the OAB update frequency in OutlookModify the OAB download behavior in OutlookLocation of the cached oab-filesModify default maintenance schedule in ExchangeForce OAB update and redistribution on ExchangeThe automatic sync and update schedulesAfter a change had been made to any of the Address Book attributes which is also included in the Offline Address Book (OAB), the following occurs:Exchange regenerates the OABDefault generation schedule: 24 hoursExchange distributes the OABDefault distribution schedule: 480 minutesOutlook downloads the OABDefault update schedule: 24 hoursThis means that in the worst possible scenario, an update to the Address Book won’t become available to the user until 48 hours after the change. This situation however is extremely rare since the default maintenance time on Exchange is at 5:00 AM and updates and downloads are usually performed during working hours.Updating Outlook manuallyEven though Outlook is the last in the chain, it is often the first level where the troubleshooting takes place as usually this is where the request is coming from. And since this website's main focus is on Outlook, it makes sense to start with Outlook as well ;-).The command for the manual update procedure can be found here:Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013tab Send/Receive-> Send/Receive Groups-> Download Address Book…Outlook 2007 and previousTools-> Send/Receive-> Download Address Book…Outlook will automatically download updates only unless the size of the changes is larger than 12.5% (one-eighth) of the total OAB size. In that case the whole OAB is being downloaded again. In a later section, it is explained how to modify this. You can manually update your OAB rather than to wait 24 hours.Modify the OAB update frequency in OutlookTo alter the default OAB update interval of 24 hours to a higher frequency, you’ll need to
