Here is the class MoveTimer: package misc { import flash.utils.Timer; class MoveTimer { private const TIMER_LENGTH = 500; public function MoveTimer(myKeyCode:int) { keyCode = myKeyCode; } public var keyCode:int; public var timer = new Timer(TIMER_LENGTH); } } I've looked at several different possible solutions to Error 1180, and none of them were applicable/worked for this one. Does anyone know why I'm getting this error? EDIT: I made some mistakes while transferring my code to stackoverflow, and I have made changes to make it look more like my actual code. actionscript-3 flash share|improve this question edited Nov 19 '13 at 6:18 asked Nov 11 '13 at 6:52 John L. 957 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote as i see you forgot to type your variable theMoveTimer as MoveTimer and the MoveTimer class isn't imported in your Dude class. The game fla file has three frames with internal actionscript, the frames are "intro" (with a start button), "play", "gameover" (with a play again button). The game will not play as it has a "Error 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method startAirRaidUser" but startAirRaidUser is clearly in the external actionscript on the 12th line. intro internal actionscript: stop(); StartButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,clic kStart); function clickStart(event:MouseEvent) { gotoAndStop("play"); } play internal actionscript: startAirRaidUser(); gameover internal actionscript: playAgainButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickPlayAgain); function clickPlayAgain(event:MouseEvent) { gotoAndStop("play"); } AirRaidUser external actionscript: package { import flash.display.*; import flash.events.*; import flash.utils.Timer; import flash.text.TextField; public class AirRaidUser extends MovieClip { private var lgun:lGun; private var ducks:Array; private var shells:Array; public var leftArrow, rightArrow:Boolean; private var nextDuck:Timer; private var shotsLeft:int; private var shotsHit:int; public function startAirRaidUser() { //here's the function it cannot find. // init score shotsLeft = 20; shotsHit = 0; showGameScore(); //create gun lgun = new lGun(); addChild(lgun); //create object arrays ducks = new Array(); shells = new Array(); //listen for keyboard stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN,keyD ownFunction); stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP,keyUpF unction); //look for collisions addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,checkForHits); //start ducks flying setNextDuck(); } public function setNextDuck() { nextDuck = new Timer(1000+Math.random()*1000,1); nextDuck.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER_COMPLET E,newDuck); nextDuck.start(); } public function newDuck(event:TimerEvent) { //random side, speed and altitude if (Math.random() > .5) { var side:String = "left"; } else { side = "right"; } var altitude:Number = Math.random()*50+20; var speed:Number = Math.random()*150+150; //create duck var p:Duck = new Duck(side, speed, altitude); addChild(p); ducks.push(p); //set time for next duck setNextDuck(); } //check for
