speed is due to the refresh rate of the viewer you are using. Generally, I would think your java panel would be more robust and should run faster. I think there's more to your issue and other questions need to be answered. Such as how many users are running on-demand reports at the same time. Maybe additional Webi Services (Report and Job Servers) need to be added to handle the requests. More investigation is needed. Have a great day!_________________God's Blessing to You! Michael E. Because I have 8 fact tables, I defined 8 contexts. My assumption is that it is only possible to take objects that belong to a speciic context in order to analyse exactly those objects in one report. Conversely, that should mean, that it is not possible error in business to take objects that belong to different fact tables (different contexts), and analyse them in one report (by one report I refer to one table). Is my assumption correct? business-objects share|improve this question edited Aug 7 '14 at 11:36 Kristof 3,24231132 asked Aug 7 '14 at 9:23 Adam 53921537 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote First some terminology; it might sound like nitpicking, but it avoids confusion: Document — A single Web Intelligence document which can consist of multiple reports and data providers Data provider — A collection of universe objects (dimensions, measures, details, …). This may result in one or more SQL statements when defined on a relational source. Report — Represented as a tab (at the bottom) within a Web Intelligence document (comparable to a Excel worksheet vs Excel Workbook). A report can contain data from any and all data providers defined in the same document. You can specify in the parameters of your data foundation whether or not to allow the selection of multiple contexts in the same data provider. If you allow this, selecting from multiple contexts in the same data provider will result in (at least) 1 SQL
Line to aChart → Removing the Confusion from CalculationContexts July 31, 2011 83 Comments If you've read enough of my blog posts, you're probably aware that I've been using BusinessObjects for a long time, and, during the early years, I was pretty clueless. One of the topics that had me completely stumped was Calculation Contexts. I attended the classes, and learned a lot, but could not grasp the concept of Calculation Contexts. So, I studied the training manuals, but it just wasn't sinking in. So, I studied the user guides, but it still wasn't making sense. So, I decided that I just wasn't smart enough to understand this concept, and did my best to live without it. It wasn't until 2002, while attending the BusinessObjects User Conference that I finally got it. I was attending a session by my good friend Dave Rathbun. One of his topics was Calculation Contexts. Dave explained them in a slightly different way than the books. Suddenly the light bulb went on, and it hasn't dimmed since. In 2004, I started teaching BusinessObjects classes, and I always taught Calculation Contexts the way I learned it, and it seemed to make more sense than what was in the books. So, my first piece of advice is, if you really want to understand Calculation Contexts, don't read the books.🙂 What is Calculation Context? The bottom line is that all calculations in Web Intelligence, by default, happen in the context of where they appear on a report. The same formula, in different places, can give different results. Often, the default context is exactly what we want. But sometimes it isn't, and it's then that we need to understand how to manipulate the contexts. Default Calculation Context Let's start with a simple example, using the infamous eFashion universe. Create and run the following query: Next, section the report on Store name. Add a Sum to the Sales revenue column. Notice that, even though the formula for the Sum is the same in every section, it yields different results in each section: =Sum([Sales revenue]) This is b
