I have not found an application that fails to work with the Error occouring, however it is disconcerting to see DCOM errors. The fix for this is pretty simple; ** !Warning! messing around in the Component Services MMC can cause system instability ** 1. Open the Component Services MMC either by typing in the Run box "dcomcnfg" and pressing enter, or clicking Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Component Services. 2. Expand Component Services + Computers & Right click on My Computer and click Properties. 3. On the Com Security Tab under "Launch and Activation Permissions" click Edit Default... 4. Either A) Make a note of the Security Permissions for the IUSR_ComputerNAME & IWAM_Computer Name accounts. Remove the IUSR_ComputerName and IWAM_ComputerName accounts. Add the IUSR_ComputerName and IWAM_ComputerName accounts. Or B) Remove the IUSR_ComputerName and IWAM_ComputerName accounts. Sysprep adds these accounts for some reason when you have IIS installed. If you look on a Non Sysprepd PC thats built the same there will not be either of these accounts. Or run Sysprep again after removing these entries, yoGroups Pictures & Albums Members List Go to Page... The message given along with this error contains the phrases: "...machine wide Default Launch and Activation security descriptor..." and "... Access control entries are not valid..." I am told that I can fix this through the Component Checker. This I have tried to do, but without any indication as to what particular component is at fault, I do not know which one is at fault. Any idea how find out which component is causing these errors and how to fix it? Thank you for your time and assistance. -- BadHead --- OS: Windows XP Professional SP2 (32-bit) Office Suite: Microsoft Office 2003 Professional SP3 Motherboard: Asus Crosshair CPU: AMD64x2 5600(AM2) RAM: 4Gb (2x2GB) Corsair Twin2x 4096-6400C5DHX GPU: GeCube ATI X1950Pro 512MB FZ HDCP Edition PSU: Enermax Galaxy 850W HDD: 2.43TB over 5 Western Digital Discs Sponsored Links 12-04-2008, 06:13 PM #2 nass Guest Posts: n/a RE: DCOM error10020 "BadHead" wrote: > Hi, > > Whenever I start my computer I get a number of 10020 errors appearing in the > Event Viewer.
