Server process launcher terminates causing Reboot Discussion in 'Software' started by Glennster, Jan 23, 2010. Glennster Private E-2 I am fairly confident this is a software dcom error windows xp and not a Malware problem. But am looking for expert opinion.I have run all dcom error 1084 the various spyware and malware progams and seems nothing has been found of significance. The computer inconsistently has a generic dcom error windows 10 host win32 system error upon booting up. I will attach a screen shot of the error. I can get the comp to run in diagnostic mode with MSconfig and it seems to stay

on. I have tried going through and changing the settings in Mscofig to see if I can narrow down the prob. No consistency to identify. Another unusual thing is I always get an error message stating I need to be an administrator to change settings in msconfig which I am logged in as. The changes are always excepted and are changed when I log in. The DCOM dcom service error server process launcher keeps terminating and rebooting comp. I have already set the setting to not reboot with the data execution error but continues to reboot. I cannot log into safe mode it gives me blue screen error. Stop: 0x0000007E(0XC0000005,0X80537009,0XF789E508,0XF789E204) this is only in safe mode works in normal mode with only the DCOM problem. Any help to narrow down error and possible solution would be greatly appreciated. One almost consistent item is the generic host error does not come up the first time I boot after changing start up items in Msconfig. There seems to be no consistent time frame or program running which causes the reboot. The problem started about 3 days ago and NO new software has been loaded that I am aware of. Please can you help me narrow down this problem?:confused Attached Files: win 32 error screenshot.bmp File size: 70.1 KB Views: 4 Glennster, Jan 23, 2010 #1 FLLMTR Private E-2 For the past four days, I have been contending with the same problem. You are right, it is not malware. After days of using different Anti-Spyware/Malware and Anti-Virus software, I finally stumbled on a solution that I should have tried a

Every time he uses his http://forums.majorgeeks.com/index.php?threads/dcom-server-process-launcher-terminates-causing-reboot.208684/ machine, he receives one of several error messages, including "DCOM Server Process Launcher Service Terminated" or "System Will Restart In 1 Minute" for an unidentified reason. I have helped him stop the restart using the "Shutdown -a" command, allowing Windows to fully run an AVG scan and a Spy Sweeper scan. Both reported the system as https://forums.techguy.org/threads/computer-restarts-dcom-server-process-launcher-service-terminated.896942/ clean. I've searched the web, but have not yet found a working solution that I have been able to duplicate to stop this from happening. For some reason, even though he is the sole profile and is listed as the administrator, he doesn't seem to have the ability to change certain settings. These attempts are described here: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/896637-cannot-change-user-permissions.html I don't know how to fix his problem. I don't even know where to start right now. Listed below is his HijackThis log. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide. It's worth noting that I do also use it for some gaming (some Steam games, etc.) The perks of owning a family business! I checked Windows Error Viewer, and found a few of these errors: The Service Control Manager tried to take a corrective action (Reboot the machine) after the unexpected termination of the Plug and Play service, but this action failed with the following error: A system shutdown has already been scheduled. and The Service Control Manager tried to take a corrective action (Reboot the machine) after the unexpected termination of the DCOM Server Process Launcher service, but this action failed with the following error: A system shutdown has already been scheduled.
