Server Process Launcher Service Terminated Discussion in 'Virus & Other Malware Removal' started by BrucePhillips, Jan dcom error 1053 23, 2010. Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement BrucePhillips Thread Starter Joined: Jan 22, 2010 Messages: 10 I am trying to help my neighbor http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-update/dcom-server-process-launcher-keeps-restarting/cb75bfc6-476f-4c6b-85ff-6bd6281644b5 with his computer. Every time he uses his machine, he receives one of several error messages, including "DCOM Server Process Launcher Service Terminated" or "System Will Restart In 1 Minute" for an unidentified reason. I have helped him stop the restart using the "Shutdown -a" command, allowing Windows to fully run an AVG https://forums.techguy.org/threads/computer-restarts-dcom-server-process-launcher-service-terminated.896942/ scan and a Spy Sweeper scan. Both reported the system as clean. I've searched the web, but have not yet found a working solution that I have been able to duplicate to stop this from happening. For some reason, even though he is the sole profile and is listed as the administrator, he doesn't seem to have the ability to change certain settings. These attempts are described here: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/896637-cannot-change-user-permissions.html I don't know how to fix his problem. I don't even know where to start right now. Listed below is his HijackThis log. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide. Server process launcher terminates causing Reboot Discussion in 'Software' started by Glennster, Jan 23, 2010. Glennster Private E-2 I am fairly confident this is http://forums.majorgeeks.com/index.php?threads/dcom-server-process-launcher-terminates-causing-reboot.208684/ a software and not a Malware problem. But am looking for expert opinion.I have http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/dcom-restart-issue.199063/ run all the various spyware and malware progams and seems nothing has been found of significance. The computer inconsistently has a generic host win32 system error upon booting up. I will attach a screen shot of the error. I can get the comp to run in diagnostic mode with MSconfig and it dcom error seems to stay on. I have tried going through and changing the settings in Mscofig to see if I can narrow down the prob. No consistency to identify. Another unusual thing is I always get an error message stating I need to be an administrator to change settings in msconfig which I am logged in as. The changes are always excepted and are changed when dcom error windows I log in. The DCOM server process launcher keeps terminating and rebooting comp. I have already set the setting to not reboot with the data execution error but continues to reboot. I cannot log into safe mode it gives me blue screen error. Stop: 0x0000007E(0XC0000005,0X80537009,0XF789E508,0XF789E204) this is only in safe mode works in normal mode with only the DCOM problem. Any help to narrow down error and possible solution would be greatly appreciated. One almost consistent item is the generic host error does not come up the first time I boot after changing start up items in Msconfig. There seems to be no consistent time frame or program running which causes the reboot. The problem started about 3 days ago and NO new software has been loaded that I am aware of. Please can you help me narrow down this problem?:confused Attached Files: win 32 error screenshot.bmp File size: 70.1 KB Views: 4 Glennster, Jan 23, 2010 #1 FLLMTR Private E-2 For the past four days, I have been contending with the same problem. You are right, it is not malware. After days of using different Anti-Spyware/Malware and Anti-Virus software, I finally stumbl

At first, my CPU would be at 100% and my entire laptop would be incredibly slow and along with that I keep getting a error saying DCOM has encountered an issue (or something like that) and windows must restart. I also have been having a plug and play error that says the exact same thing. It tends to happen at random. I've ran malwarebytes and my virus scanner which is Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes picked up 29 viruses which I cleaned and got rid of. then MSE, encountered a severe virus. I removed it then restarted my laptop and that fixed the cpu problem, but since then I've gotten the DCOM error once. I've tried running rootkit killer and it didnt detect anything. Also I tried system restore and it says I don't have any restore points. So now my question is, what do I do now? I know how to stop the restarting but it's still an annoying issue. I'm not sure if this is a virus or not but I figured I'd post here instead of the other forums. Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit Intel Celeron GPU (yea I know, its not a high perfomance laptop but it works for me) 2.00 GB Ram (1.87 Usable) If you need any more information let me know please. I already posted this in another section of the forum but someone said to post it here also so thats why I have 2 topics about the same thing incase anyone was wondering Jan 2, 2014 #1 Broni Malware Annihilator Posts: 52,756 +342 Welcome aboard Please, complete all steps listed here: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic5813
