Last week I got some time to system shutdown due to thermal event clean it up and switch on. I removed the covers and found soft sponge kind of dust all over the motherboard and CPU fan. I cleaned them using a vacuum cleaner and checked all motherboard and fan cables before closing the covers. For my surprise, my computer gave two beep sounds and shutdown immediately. After few minutes I pressed the power button one more time and found the message previous shutdown due to thermal event. The computer is up for very little time after rebooting and closed down without any warnings.Initially I thought I made something wrong while re-connecting the cooling fan cables. I removed the covers again and checked the connections. For my knowledge everything was perfectly alright and there was no reason for CPU overheating. Replaced the covers and tried to start the computer and experienced the same problem. I really couldn’t understand what the hell is this thermal event which is preventing my computer to work fine? After many attempts I couldn’t solve the issue. Previous Shutdown Due to Thermal EventAs

It was not showing any signs of problems at the time nor had it done so any time earlier. This morning upon normal start-up I got a message saying Alert! Last shutdown due to thermal event. It then took me to a screen to where I was given the option of F1 or F2. I chose to continue the start-up but after loading Windows(XP home variety) it froze up. After several more attempts it finally started up and seems to be running OK.I cleaned the case a couple of weeks ago all around the fans(although I did not open it up) and everything seemed to be working properly. I Googled the problem and got several different hits on the subject, but what I am wondering is should I be concerned as it seems to be OK now or should I take further steps and what would anyone suggest I do.Thanks, thewall If I have helped you then please consider donating so I can continue the fight against malware All donations go directly to the helperDue to the large amount of backlogs we have I cannot respond to PMs for help unless I am already working with you Back to top BC AdBot (Login to Remove) BleepingComputer.com Register to remove ads #2 Budapest Budapest Bleepin' Cynic Moderator 23,495 posts OFFLINE Gender:Male Local time:02
