Yet, there are many irregularities in the working of MS Word and users find it hard to overcome such situations. One such problematic situation is the permission error while saving changes made to Word file. Here, let us know what this error is and what are the causes for occurrence of this error? Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error: This error in MS Word http://www.yodot.com/doc-repair/fix-word-cannot-complete-the-save-due-to-file-permission-error.html is commonly faced by many users when they try to update changes made to a Word file by clicking on save. The causes behind this error message can be: If the document is previously saved as ‘read only’ file / Template. This means that the file contents cannot be modified If user try to modify content of a file that is saved in a location, which user cannot access i.e. not having admin permission Trying to modify file from a network shared folder When Windows Search service is enabled When multiple antivirus programs are running on the system When this error is displayed, modified content of the Word file cannot be saved. But, there are certain solutions to successfully save the file even when this error message is getting displayed. They are: Click on ‘Save As’ and save it in a new location Before editing the file, check whether the file is saved as Read-Only. If so then change the preferences If you do not have sufficient user permissions to modify any file, login as administrator Disable Windows Search service – Go to Start -> Click on Run -> Type services.msc -> locate Windows Search and double click on it -> Then click startup type -> select Automatic (Disabled) -> apply If the system has many antivirus programs running, disable all except any one Last but not the least, make use of inbuilt repair utility i

No fix, other than updating to later word or OS, yet I have five work arounds for you. When you encounter this problem not only will Word crash, but your original file will disappear from the file folder - bummer! The five work arounds: 1) don't work directly off a removable drive (e.g. USB jump drive) 2) If you must, then ALWAYS save using the "file save as" dialog and then save it. I'm not 100% sure but I think it will not crash if you do this. 3) For 100% assurance use the "file save as" and change the name of the file each time you save it, ****2 and then back to ****. You can save it twice under the both names each time - that gives you a durable back up. That's a mess but it works. 4) IF you forget (or WHEN you forget) and have hit "save" and you get the infamous "close diskette door" or other error warning -DON"T CLICK ANYTHING! First, pull the USB drive out of the port, count off a few seconds, and then reinsert it. WAIT for the drive to "mount" (you get the "What do you want Windows to do" pop up.) Just close the pop up and THEN click continue or cancel on the error warning. You should be back in operation. IF you've done something really stupid, like clicking one of t

October 22, 2015 00:05 I have the same problem and it only occurs when the DropBox sync software is running (Windows 7). It does not happen with all files, mostly, but not all, MS Word (2010) files. My issue is not related to email. Last Tuesday was 'Update Tuesday' and I am up-to-date. I did not notice anything prior to that... -Neal Permalink 0 Stephen Y. December 24, 2015 00:09 I upgraded Linux on home PC from 32 bit Ubuntu 14.04 LTS to Linux Mint Cinamon 17.3 64 bit. Dropbox worked fine for 2 days - now I get Dropbox Error: Couldn't start Dropbox. This is usually because of a permissions error. Storing your home folder on a network share can also cause an error. Get more help at https://www.dropbox.com/c/help/permissions_errorPlease contact Dropbox support with the following info for help: /tmp/dropbox_error6zmcTq.txt What I tried was renaming Dropbox in the home folder, equivalent to deleting it (contents are a few MB, since Samsung's 50GB went away), and restarting. No luck. Also downloaded, reinstalled on Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.3 and restarted in case a Nautilus problem with the daemon. Also tried to change permissions on file 'Dropbox' - same error: Get more help at https://www.dropbox.com/c/help/permi
