If I try to open any program it proceeds to load after which the loading screen disappears but nothing pops up following that process. However if I try to open a document that I already have saved it again proceeds to load after which leaves me with a message titled “OpenOffice.org Document Recovery” and it says: Due to an unexpected error, OpenOffice.org crashed, All the files you were working on will now be saved. The next time OpenOffice.org is launched, your files will be recovered automatically. The following files will be recovered: After that there is nothing and after launching OpenOffice.org I am still receiving this message. Is there anything that i can do to fix this? data-recovery crash openoffice.org share|improve this question edited Jun 28 '15 at 19:57 David Foerster 10.6k93052 asked Jun 28 '15 at 19:21 Tnel90 1 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote I would suggest reinstallation of OO, if you aren't against: sudo apt-get remove --purge openoffice* sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get autoremove Then download OO (4.1.1) from here: http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html#aoo Or if you want older version (3.4) sudo add-apt-repository ppa:upubuntu-com/openoffice sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install apache-openoffice Or even better, install Libre Office which is in the repos and will do the same job (but uninstall OO before). For reference: What is the difference between OpenOffice and the newly created LibreOffice? share|improve this answer answered Jun 28 '15 at 22:49 MiHa 724215 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up usin

Rebooted per directions. Checked for updates. Installed them all (151 of them). Launched OO Writer. While checking out features, I clicked TOOLS > BIBLIOGRAPHICAL DATABASE. Wham! OO went down like it was shot through the head. I got an error message: "Due to an unexpected error, OpenOffice.org crashed. All the files you were working on will now be saved. The next time OpenOffice.org is launched, your files will be recovered automatically. "The following files will be recovered: Untitled1" OO does this repeatedly, every time I click TOOLS >BIBLIOGRAPHICAL DATABASE. Am I doing something wrong? Let me know, please! Thanks for any help. 3-Ball Adv Reply June 10th, 2010 #2 Hagar Delest View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Dark Roasted Ubuntu Join Date Dec 2006 Location France Beans 1,008 DistroXubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr Re: OpenOffice Crashes First make sure that Base is installed (it is not by default

Openoffice version: 4.1.1_3 I have tried to use OpenOffice writer, calc, draw, and Impress all crash so often that they are not usable.I tried Openoffice Math and it appeared to be working OK. (It was not a very complex test but I did kick around several options& banged on the keys). I did not test Openoffice base. Easiest way to reproduce the problem, Open: calcselect one cell, enter some short due to text.select a different cell: right click, in the context menu select format cells...Usually it will crash and gointo document recovery which also will crash before completing. I have tried to delete: ~/.openoffice.org-develHowever, Openoffice continues to crash. When Openoffice does crash it usually will start its recovery process which I get the following popups:OpenOffice Document Recovery Due to an unexpected error, Openoffice crashed. All the files you were working on will now be due to an saved. The next time Openoffice is launched, your files will be recovered automatically. The following files will be recovered: untitled 1 --->New popup: OpenOffice Document Recovery Press 'Start Recovery' to start the recovery process of the documents listed below. Untitled 1 status: Not recovered yet. Pressed: StartRecovery btn.
--> OpenOffice Doc Recovery dialog.
Due to an unexpected error, OO crashed. .....
The following files will be recovered:
Untitled 1
[OK] -->dialog closed, the end. (Note: The recovery itself also crashed and failed to recover the document. Data lost!) I suspect the OpenOffice Recovery problem may be a secondary symptom rather than the primary cause. I have tried Openoffice through the normal PBI package and when I was experiencing so much crashing I built it from Ports.(The Ports version of Openoffice was exactly the same as the PBI package.) It also showed the exact same symptoms. Openoffice is a major app and it has been unusable since I did a clean install of PCBSD about December 25, 2015. Mark History #1 Updated by Joshua Smith over 1 year ago Status changed from Unscreened to Not Applicable Unfortunately this is a pretty well known issue, but it doesn't directly apply to PC-BSD per say. There isn't a lot we can do sin
