Description David 2012-06-04 13:58:02 UTC Spreadsheet and Writer both crash a few seconds after loading (have not tried any other app). Sometimes I have enough time to open a spreadsheet. This happens every time I start the apps. I can start the spreadsheet or writer app and let it sit with a blank doc and after about 15-20 second the dialog box "Due to an unexpected error, Openoffice.org crashed..." appears. I tells me that the doc I'm working on will be saved and presents me with a "Close" button at the bottom of the dialogue. I click the close and this dialogue stops responding.. Have to force it closed via windows. Comment 1 Andre 2012-06-08 09:44:53 UTC Can anybody reproduce this? Comment 2 Regina Henschel 2012-06-08 09:59:49 UTC I had a similar problem myself and heard it from others. The reason had been a faulty file registrymodifications.xcu. I could not find out, why the file gets faulty. @David: Please search for this file in your OpenOffice user folder in your Windows profile and rename it. It will be

If I try to open any program it proceeds to load after which the loading screen disappears but nothing pops up following that process. However if I try to open a document that I already have saved it again proceeds to load after which leaves me with a message titled “OpenOffice.org Document Recovery” and it says: Due http://askubuntu.com/questions/642077/unable-to-open-openoffice-org-suites to an unexpected error, OpenOffice.org crashed, All the files you were working on will now be saved. The next time OpenOffice.org is launched, your files will be recovered automatically. The following files will be recovered: After that there is nothing and after launching OpenOffice.org I am still receiving this message. Is there anything that i can do to fix this? data-recovery crash openoffice.org share|improve this question edited Jun 28 '15 at 19:57 David Foerster 10.6k93052 asked Jun 28 '15 at 19:21 Tnel90 1 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote I would suggest reinstallation of OO, if you aren't against: sudo apt-get remove --purge openoffice* sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get autoremove Then download OO (4.1.1) from here: http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html#aoo Or if you want older version (3.4) sudo add-apt-repository ppa:upubuntu-com/openoffice sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install apache-openoffice Or even better, install Libre Office which is in the repos and will do the same job (but uninstall OO before). For reference: What is the difference between OpenOffice and the newly created LibreOffice? share|improve this answer answered Jun 28 '15 at 22:49 MiHa 724215 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a

Opening Apache OpenOffice Calc takes approximately 10-15 s (!) on my system: 16 GB RAM, Intel i7, Ubuntu 14.04. On my system, Apache OpenOffice almost always crash when I do something with the styles window open.
