Error 15 File Not Found Fedora 17 Usb
"error 15: file not found" live-usb asked 2012-07-11 12:01:05 +0000 Hutt 11 ●1 ●1 ●2 hello there, I am desperately trying to boot fedora 17 from a usb stick created from the gnome-live-cd. when I try to boot from the stick, I get "error 15 - file not found" in the boot loader. I tried to create the live-usb with two different tools (linuxliveusb + liveusb creator) and I get the same error with both tools.I am creating the bootable stick from windows. The machine I am trying to get fedora installed is a netbook with an Intel Atom N2800 and 4GB RAM. burning a cd is unfortunately not an option because the lenovo has no optical drive and I do not have an external optical drive. also, I do not have any linux machine at my hands. any suggestions on how to get it to work? edit retag flag offensive close merge delete Commentstry unetbootin and if that does not work then download the new isoAkshay( 2012-07-11 20:16:25 +0000 )edit 8 answers Sort by » oldest newest most voted 1 answered 2012-10-13 08:05:02 +0000 din 27 ●2 Here is the solved Thread http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=283055 edit flag offensive delete link more 1 answered 2012-10-12 10:34:42 +0000 winzter143 11 ●1 I encounter this problem just because I install the ISO to the partition as is /dev/sdb1 and not on the device /dev/sdb. I also used the fedora liveusb creator tool. My boot order was wrong in my bios. I had

"Error 15: File Not Found" I would just like to say thank you first of all for viewing this. I am quite confused about installing linux. Never have used it before, I am curious and would like to install it. I have spent hours attempting http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/newbie/192964-complete-newcomer-error-15-file-not-found.html to find a linux that works for me. The result is an error 15 file not found, it's the same problem with every linux I go to install and make a Live Usb for. I do not have a clue where to even google the specific search. I know I have to have 15 posts to post links, but its a lot better for me to show pictures of what I am talking about. First, let me start off with my system specs of my self-built desktop computer. windows 7 64bit ASUS P9X79 PRO Intel X79 Pro Motherboard i-7 3930k 3.2GHz Nvidia geforce gtx 550 ti 1gb Ok, I followed the directions of making a live usb (Fedora-17-x86_64-Live-Desktop) I used the Fedora Live Usb Creator, unetbootin, and also Linux Live Usb Creator with the same error 15: file not found. Once the live usb has been created, I restart my computer. This pops up [IMG]http" i.imgur.comkdylI.jpg[IMG] I press any key and then it gets to this grub screen, which I have no clue to even do here. The top line highlighted, I press E button to edit the command line and I see these (which again, I do not know anything about) The command line what it fully looks like for the middle one expanded is... I would just like to see what this wonderful world of Linux can bring me, as I have been a Win user my whole life. I know the live usb works, because I used it

I'm running this existing distro (Ubuntu) from /dev/sdb with a new OS, Gentoo, installed on /dev/sda. I'm glad I took the trouble of setting these up on different disks because I can't boot into the new OS. All I get is grub error 15 "File not found". It also gives error 15 file the UUID which I have verified is correct: sudo blkid /dev/sda1: LABEL="boot" UUID="b891774a-0b2d-4ab4-bcfa-23a11a97cae5" TYPE="ext2" /dev/sda2: UUID="fc34999a-e85d-4c7b-8775-30510eb4c396" TYPE="swap" /dev/sda3: LABEL="main" UUID="65a90a0d-a651-4215-8552-0c1859ab61dd" TYPE="ext4" The menu.lst (on /dev/sdb) for the new OS is title Gentoo Linux 3.10.7-r1 uuid b891774a-0b2d-4ab4-bcfa-23a11a97cae5 #root (hd0,0) kernel /kernel-3.10.7-gentoo root=UUID=65a90a0d-a651-4215-8552-0c1859ab61dd I also tried kernel /boot/kernel-3.10.7-gentoo root=UUID=65a90a0d-a651-4215-8552-0c1859ab61dd but since the UUID goes directly to the boot partition I think this is wrong. The kernel should be correct; if I mount dev/sda1 and ls I see grub kernel-3.10.7-gentoo Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? It might be very basic; I've only been using Linux for a few years and never Gentoo except for a few days in a chroot. I should mention I also have grub2 installed on dev/sda1 though I don't get as far there: it just shows the grub 'command line'. ubuntu grub2 gentoo grub-legacy share|improve this question edited Apr 18 '14 at 14:23 asked Apr 18 '14 at 3:21 Charles 147113 In which order did you installed gentoo/ubuntu? –Braiam Apr 26 '14 at 3:24 @Braiam: I installed Ubuntu first (years ago) and I've been trying to get Gentoo working for a few months now. It runs fine in a chroot but I can't get it to boot, either from its own grub2 or from Ubuntu's grub-legacy. –Charles Apr 26 '14 at 23:57 add a comment| 4 Ans
