Boot from the live image and fix your error 15 file not found redhat menu.lst (or whatever the Grub2 config is called). Error 15 is pretty straightforward.Moving to Newbie Corner. GRUB2 upgrade. And how I boot from the live image and fix your menu.lst? Sorry if I'm asking obvious things, I've never actually interacted with the grub config files before... If the disc you have is dated, fixing grub2 might be tricky but chrooting can help. You'll want to go back through the error 15 file not found windows 7 upgrade or installation process for grub 2. As I suspected, if you're getting error 15 after "upgrading" to grub 2, you probably forgot something. In other words, the old grub-legacy bootloader is still in the MBR, so you very likely skipped the grub-install step (adjust for whether you're using an EFI or legay BIOS system). I'm using a BIOS system as far as I know. I tried to get the grub legacy back and know I have GRUB 0.97 again, the problem is that I was not able to get my old configuration back and when I try to load the kernel it shows error 15 again... I think I messed it because I chose the wrong sda when I tried to upgrade it in the first place.Anyway, is there an easy way to solve this or is it better to install the whole system again? And what does error 15 means?Thank you in advance for your answers. Right now I do not have acces to the computer, so I'll try to work on this tomorrow and post more details so that you can have a better idea of how the config files and the rest of the stuff look like...Thanks. Upon reboot after install things freeze after Grub 1.5 with a Grub Error 15 message. Is there any easy way to fix this? (I am posting this http://askubuntu.com/questions/129689/how-do-i-fix-grub-error-15-on-new-dual-boot-install from my second computer) UPDATE: I managed to boot into both 12.04 and Win7 using BIOS: Selected the disk with the Win7 'C' Partition: resulted in the same error message Rebooted, tried the disk with the Ubuntu Partitions: *Grub Menu loaded: Managed to boot 12.04, rebooted, used BIOS again: Managed to boot Win 7 So, I have access to my computer again (thru BIOS), but this has been a pretty crappy install experience. Garth I used the the Final release 12.04 Ubuntu install disk, reformatted all Linux partitions, and expected a simple clean install. Other than specifying the Ubuntu Partitions, I did a basic install of 12.04. No way I did do anything to get this crap error failure! I have no idea why my install resulted in a Grub-15 error. grub2 dual-boot share|improve this question edited Oct 21 '12 at 16:05 Jorge Castro 24.4k91387589 asked May 1 '12 at 22:37 Garth 6113 grub2 does not have stage1.5 or error 15, and you should not be using grub legacy on a fresh install of 12.04. I believe wubi installs use GRUB4DOS which is a fork of grub legacy, are you sure you didn't do a wubi install? Runn
