Error 15 File Not Found Centos
me?! Hey, I am short on usb-ports so I wanted puppy to be in sda1/wary53 Universal Instal via frugal then grub into MBR. I used the menu.lst entry the universal installer error 15 file not found windows 7 suggested. But i got Error 15 file not found when trying to run that entry. After a long time of trying myself I went to an IRC help chat. There they told me the entry should be root (hd0,0) and NOT rootnoverify (hd0,0) I was told that rootnoverify does not mount the partition... Now it works fine. Did I mess something up or the universal installer? error 15 file not found press any key to continue Back to top ICPUG Joined: 24 Jul 2005Posts: 1301Location: UK Posted: Thu 17 May 2012, 08:01 Post subject: Welcome to the kennels maxe! I'm guessing there was a kernel update that went badly, as people are pointing out that there was a power outage this week. I think it caught the server in the midst of updating the kernel. Anyway, here's some information. When working through the grub prompt (which is all I can get to) I run through the steps of the error 15 file tutorial here: Solving Boot Problems with Grub - 2nd Edition - Linux Forums Where I use the following commands: Code: root (hd0,2) kernel (hd0,2)/ I hit tab to list possible files, and I find vmlinuz2.6.5-7.316-smp I use that as the kernel, and then use the following command: Code: initrd (hd0,2)/ hit tab again, and come up with the only file: initrd-2.6.5-7.244-smp-old Obviously these two will not play well with each other. Any ideas? Appendix When the GRUB menu comes up, press 'c' to go to a command line. Type 'find /vmlinuz' and 'find /initrd.gz' This will tell you where GRUB thinks the files are. Especially easy to set up for Puppy. http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/GRUB To learn about the GNU GRUB project, please see: http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/ The manual for "legacy" GRUB, including 0.96 installable from Puppy installer, please see: http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/ GRUB (short for GRand Unified Boot Loader) is a boot loader, similar in overall function to LILO. It is the standard way to boot into an operating system (or several) used by most recent Linux distributions, but capable of being loaded on any Linux distro. Go here for a comparison of Lilo & Grub, written by Laurence Bonney (IBM). From TheBabbs - I run Puppy Linux 1.0.6 (soon to be 1.0.7) and Fedora Core 3 on the same desktop machine. Each has its own partition on different drives. When I first added Puppy Linux to this system, I had the hardest time configuring the GRUB install which Fedora had previou
