internet via a LAN-network-cable. (direct internet connection) I have no VPN error 623 vpn installed and haven't done anything to the old dial-up connection settings for a long long time. A month ras error 623 windows 7 ago, I suddenly started to get this Error Message: "Error 623 The System Could Not Find the Phone Book Entry for this Connection" when opening websites. It is really http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-networking/error-623-system-could-not-find-the-phone-book/7bf5faa1-c76d-47e4-a4d5-d61d8d7e74fc annoying, it comes up 20 times in a row and I have to click "ok" to get rid of the notice box all the time. But if did it finally, the webpage does load all right. Been waiting for it to vanish as it started, but it doesn't. Resolution: Disable McAfee's On-Access Scan, uninstall SURA from the command line, then reinstall SURA and re-enable McAfee's On-Access Scan. Follow the same procedure for AVG's Resident Shield (see Comments section below). Background: McAfee's On-Access Scan and AVG's Resident Shield prevent SURA from creating an instance of 'rasphone.pbk' in the C:\Users\netid\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Pbk folder on Windows Vista or Windows 7. If this file already error 623 cannot exists in the folder, there is no problem, but if it does not, the above error occurs. Uninstalling and reinstalling SURA without disabling McAfee's On-Access Scan or AVG's Resident Shield will not resolve the error. Client connection error: "Error 623: The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection" Problem The above error occurs when the user tries to open the AccessMyLan client software. Explanation This error occurs if the “Dial-up networking” connection for AccessMyLan has been deleted. When the AccessMyLan client is installed a “dial-up networking”connection is also created. The client uses this connection to connect to the AccessMyLan service. On a PC with a correctly installed client this connection can be seen by going to Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections. When the above error occurs this connection has been deleted. Resolution The client software needs to be reinstalled to resolve this issue. The user should remove their current client software using Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. Their administrator should then install a new client or generate an email invitation for the user to install a new client.
