Error 623 Windows 10
7 Networking Question 1 Sign in to vote Hello I wish to use rasdial to start a vpn so I can do http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-networking/error-623-system-could-not-find-the-phone-book/7bf5faa1-c76d-47e4-a4d5-d61d8d7e74fc this and some other tasks from a vbs script, but rasdial does not seem to want to work. My vpn connection is saved in: C:\Windows\System32\ras\SEEVPN.pbk I start a command prompt and type the following: rasdial SEEVPN username password where these are ofcourse replaced by the https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/e81fb2a0-2fcb-4589-beb6-db0786430bcc/rasdial-error-623-cannot-find-phonebook-entry?forum=w7itpronetworking correct username and password. I then receive the following message: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Remote Access error 623 - The system could not find the phone book entry for thi s connection. For more help on this error: Type 'hh netcfg.chm' In help, click Troubleshooting, then Error Messages, then 623 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I have also tried the following commands with the same result: rasdial SEEVPN.pbk username password rasdial SEEVPN username password /phonebook:C:\Windows\System32\ras\SEEVPN.pbk rasdial SEEVPN username password /phonebook:"C:\Windows\System32\ras\SEEVPN.pbk" I have also tried all of the above from after changing directory to C:\Windows\System32\ras. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I have managed to get this to work on previously on a Vista machine with no problems. Manually double-clicking on the .pbk file launches the vnp connection fine. I'm using Windows 7 professional 64-bit. Thanks! Friday,

I signed up with a new provider and I am getting this http://support.accessmylan.com/kb/article-9.html message under the Network and Dial-Up Connections window. Error 623: The System Could Not Find the Phonebook Entry for this Connection I can connect to the internet via dial-up but it periodically drops my connection and I get the error 623 above error message. I am still able to connect to my old dial-up provider and I don't get this error or get dropped. I'm skepitcal that it's the way I initially set up the new connection with the new provider. I found this link (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/227391/) to microsoft'ss website addressing the issue but it does no help me. It says to do the following; 1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Network and Dial-up Connections. 2. Right-click error 623 windows the Virtual Private Connection in question, and then click Properties. 3. Select the "Dial another connection first" check box, and then select the appropriate Dial-up connection from the drop-down list box. If there is no Dial-up connection to choose from in this location, you may have to create a Dial-up connection and then repeat these steps. BUT there is no option to "Dial another connection first" check box. It just doesn't exist. Not sure what to do next?? douglasdelay, Aug 27, 2006 #1 Sponsor hssonline Joined: Aug 22, 2006 Messages: 167 1. go to internet options of INTERNET EXPLORER (Tools ---Internet options) 2. put a check mark on "never dial a connection" in the connections tab. 3. uncheck the option for proxy server under LAN settings (connections tab). hssonline, Aug 28, 2006 #2 Dunko9 Joined: Apr 21, 2003 Messages: 320 hssonline said: 1. go to internet options of INTERNET EXPLORER (Tools ---Internet options) 2. put a check mark on "never dial a connection" in the connections tab. 3. uncheck the option for proxy server under LAN settings (connections tab).Click to expand... yeah i have trying, but same problems. nothing happened! douglasdelay said: Ok, I'm losing my patience with my dial-up connection. "System could not find the phonebook entry for this connection". Client connection error: "Error 623: The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection" Problem The above error occurs when the user tries to open the AccessMyLan client software. Explanation This error occurs if the “Dial-up networking” connection for AccessMyLan has been deleted. When the AccessMyLan client is installed a “dial-up networking”connection is also created. The client uses this connection to connect to the AccessMyLan service. On a PC with a correctly installed client this connection can be seen by going to Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections. When the above error occurs this connection has been deleted. Resolution The client software needs to be reinstalled to resolve this issue. The user should remove their current client software using Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. Their administrator should then install a new client or generate an email invitation for the user to install a new client.
