Posted August 9th, 2005, 2:23 pm I have been using (and enjoying) Firefox for quite a while with no problems. For the last several weeks however, when I navigate from one page to the error 623 windows 8 next, I am bombarded with the Windows error message “Error 623" – navigating to “bostonworks.boston.com” error 623 windows 10 always gets the error(s). Navigating to the same pages with IE works as expected. This recent flood of error messages makes it impossible

to use Firefox. Microsoft help tells me this problem is VPN related. I am running “Windows XP Professional” and connecting to the internet through a Bellsouth DCL line. Is anyone else seeing this problem? eleanor Posts: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-networking/error-623-system-could-not-find-the-phone-book/7bf5faa1-c76d-47e4-a4d5-d61d8d7e74fc 1167Joined: March 5th, 2005, 6:55 pmLocation: California Posted August 9th, 2005, 3:13 pm Haven't seen any single definitive answer to this. I went through it myself, and I really don't know what finally fixed the problem. It's NOT necessarily a VPN issue. It gives me http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=303680 a better feel for the problem but nothing suggested in the links you posted gets rid of the error message. AI'm still muddling slong with the error messages popping up all over the plasce. It gives me the feeling thast someone over in Microsoft is having themselves a good chuckle. kenace0 Posts: 482Joined: August 14th, 2005, 9:04 amLocation: new mexico u.s.a. Microsoft seems to tie this problem to as VPN but I'm not using VPNs and others suggest it has nothing at all to do with VPNs (at least as it applies to this repetetive Error 623 when navigating). kenace0 Posts: 482Joined: August 14th, 2005, 9:04 amLocation: new mexico u.s.a. I http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/124299-623-error.html signed up with a new provider and I am getting this message under the Network and Dial-Up Connections window. Error 623: The System Could Not Find the Phonebook Entry for this Connection I can connect error 623 to the internet via dial-up but it periodically drops my connection and I get the above error message. I am still able to connect to my old dial-up provider and I don't get this error or get dropped. I'm skepitcal that it's the way I initially set up the new connection with the new provider. I found this link (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/227391/) to microsoft'ss website addressing the issue but it does no error 623 windows help me. It says to do the following; 1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Network and Dial-up Connections. 2. Right-click the Virtual Private Connection in question, and then click Properties. 3. Select the "Dial another connection first" check box, and then select the appropriate Dial-up connection from the drop-down list box. If there is no Dial-up connection to choose from in this location, you may have to create a Dial-up connection and then repeat these steps. BUT there is no option to "Dial another connection first" check box. It just doesn't exist. Not sure what to do next?? douglasdelay, Aug 27, 2006 #1 Sponsor hssonline Joined: Aug 22, 2006 Messages: 167 1. go to internet options of INTERNET EXPLORER (Tools ---Internet options) 2. put a check mark on "never dial a connection" in the connections tab. 3. uncheck the option for proxy server under LAN settings (connections tab). hssonline, Aug 28, 2006 #2 Dunko9 Joined: Apr 21, 2003 Messages: 320 hssonline said: 1. go to internet options of INTERNET EXPLORER (Tools ---Internet options) 2. put a check mark on "never dial a connection" in the connections tab. 3. uncheck the option for proxy server under LAN settings (connections tab).Click to expand... yea

Windows 7: 623 error 12 Nov 2010 #1 ebohatch Windows 7 Ultimate 6 posts 623 error I have a USB modem temporarily connected directly to my system and would use it as a dial up connection, I now have a router (Cradlepoint 1000) and am using that, BUT when the system boots up I will get the notification "Error 623 The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection" I have gone to connections and insured that there is no modem on the list and the check box to never dial a connection is checked (and grayed out). But I continue to get the error message eveery time I start up the system. Any ideas on what else I need to do to eliminate this???
