Table of Contents Summary Resolution: Background: Procedure: Comments Summary SURA Error 623 - System could not find phone book entry for this connection. Resolution: Disable McAfee's On-Access Scan, uninstall SURA from the command line, then reinstall SURA and re-enable McAfee's On-Access Scan. Follow the same procedure for https://answers.syr.edu/display/network/SURA+Error+623+-+Could+not+find+phone+book+entry AVG's Resident Shield (see Comments section below). Background: McAfee's On-Access Scan and AVG's Resident Shield prevent SURA from creating an instance of 'rasphone.pbk' in the C:\Users\netid\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Pbk folder on Windows Vista or Windows 7. If this file already exists in the folder, there is no problem, but if it does not, the above error occurs. Uninstalling and reinstalling SURA without disabling McAfee's On-Access Scan or AVG's Resident Shield will not resolve the error. Procedure: Right-click on the McAfee "V" shield icon or AVG patchwork icon in the notification area Select "Disable On-Access Scan" for McAfee or 'Open' for AVG (see Comments section below) Open a command line window by typing 'cmd' and hitting Enter in Windows' Search box on the start menu Drag the SURA executable into the command line window Add a space followed by '/uninstall' to the end of the command line and hit Enter Type 'exit' and hit Enter to close the command line window Reinstall SURA by launching 'sura.exe' and logging in normally Once connected, right-click on the McAfee "V" shield icon and select "Ena
Posted August 9th, 2005, 2:23 pm I have been using (and enjoying) Firefox for quite a while with no problems. For the last several http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=303680 weeks however, when I navigate from one page to the next, I am bombarded with the Windows error message “Error 623" – navigating to “bostonworks.boston.com” always gets the error(s). Navigating to the http://support.accessmylan.com/kb/article-9.html same pages with IE works as expected. This recent flood of error messages makes it impossible to use Firefox. Microsoft help tells me this problem is VPN related. I am running “Windows error 623 XP Professional” and connecting to the internet through a Bellsouth DCL line. Is anyone else seeing this problem? eleanor Posts: 1167Joined: March 5th, 2005, 6:55 pmLocation: California Posted August 9th, 2005, 3:13 pm Haven't seen any single definitive answer to this. I went through it myself, and I really don't know what finally fixed the problem. It's NOT necessarily a VPN issue. It gives me a better feel for the problem but nothing suggested in the links you posted gets rid of the error message. AI'm still muddling slong with the error messages popping up all over the plasce. It gives me the feeling thast someone over in Microsoft is having themselves a good chuckle. kenace0 Posts: 482Joined: August 14th, 2005, 9:04 amLocation: new mexico u.s.a. Microsoft seems to tie this problem to as VPN but I'm not using VPNs and others suggest it has nothing at all to do with VPNs (at least as it applies to this repetetive Error 623 when navigating). kenace0 Posts: 482Joined: August 14th, 2005, 9:04 amLocation: new mexico u.s.a. "System could not find the phonebook entry for this connection". Client connection error: "Error 623: The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection" Problem The above error occurs when the user tries to open the AccessMyLan client software. Explanation This error occurs if the “Dial-up networking” connection for AccessMyLan has been deleted. When the AccessMyLan client is installed a “dial-up networking”connection is also created. The client uses this connection to connect to the AccessMyLan service. On a PC with a correctly installed client this connection can be seen by going to Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections. When the above error occurs this connection has been deleted. Resolution The client software needs to be reinstalled to resolve this issue. The user should remove their current client software using Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. Their administrator should then install a new client or generate an email invitation for the user to install a new client.
