So far everything else seems to work with the exception of Half Life 2 and HL2 Episodes 1 and 2. I can install Episode 1 and 2 no problem, but the problem lies with HL2. Whenever I try to install it, it gives me a pop-up window that says:"An error occurred while installing Half Life 2 (disk write error). See the Steam support site for more information."The link it also gives apparently doesn't exist according to Steam support. I also tried google search to try and find a solution, but I didn't find any anwsers, so I'm stuck. I tried uninstalling the game which had somehow already installed 20% of itself (but it had paused the download and refused to continue it), but now it won't even download 1% before giving me the error.Any ideas? < > Showing 1-1 of 1 comments Humblebee View Profile View Posts 18 Jul, 2013 @ 11:59pm I hate double posting, but I don't want to make another thread just to ask this. I was yet to re-install HL2 onto my newly built monster rig of a PC and since I still have the original disc thought this would be quicker than downloading it, even though it'll get patched to death afterwards, but it seems attempting to install from the disc no longer works. I half life get this error message: Error 1334. The file 'hl2.ico1' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in the cabinet file 'hl24.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package. CD-ROM?! HL2 is on a DVD. The message appears while the installer is copying hl2.ico from the disc. The icon file for the desktop shortcut of all things. I'm now having to download the game instead, so I may as well throw the disc away? half life 2 soopytwist View Public Profile Search User Find More Posts by soopytwist Find Threads by soopytwist 05-11-2013, 07:18 AM #2 pizzahut Join Date: Jan 2003 Reputation: 2019 Posts: 5,228 Did you try Google? I couldn't find a thread on here for it so I assumed I was the first to have the error. Seems you have to install Counter Strike Source as well, otherwise the installer fails. soopytwist View Public Profile Search User Find More Posts by soopytwist Find Threads by soopytwist Steam Users' Forums > Steam Game Discussions > H - L > Half-Life 2 Can't install from original disc anymore « Previous Thread | Next Thread » Thread Tools Show Printable Version Display Modes Linear Mode Switch to Hybrid Mode Switch to Threaded Mode Posting Rules You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts BB code is On Smilies are On [IMG] code is Off HTML code is Off Forum Rules All times are GMT -7.
