If you have important data that is not on backup do not use the computer until you can replace the hard drive. Hard disk 1 is usually hard disk your second hard drive. Your primary drive is usually Hard drive "0". m 0 l beefybish April 4, 2012 3:19:33 PM Yeah you're gonna want to get this looked at quickly.. your hard drive is definitely failed/failed. Try and get any data you can from it.. and then check with the manufacturer to see if it's still in warranty as you may get a replacement. Unfortunately, if a hard drive is failing there is no "fix" as such.. More like a "OMG QUICK SAVE hard disk 1 THE FILES" Try using a hard drive caddy to connect the hard drive externally to another computer and hope for the best that you can save the files. Hope this helps, good luck! m 0 l Can't find your answer ? Ask ! Publish Related resources Solvedthe words on the menu on the TV is in red, what does this mean and how can i fix it? Hard disk error 10008 Started by ripperdon , Dec 26 2010 09:35 AM Please log in to reply #1 ripperdon Posted 26 December 2010 - 09:35 AM ripperdon Member Member 14 posts Hi G2G,I was running low on disk space on C drive which had Windows 7 and performed a disk cleanup. This was yesterday. After a break of about couple hours, I checked my laptop and it said that the hard disk boot failed. After Restarting I was able to Login through the "continue with system resume" option.I was not sure as to what the problem was and restarted again. This time, I ran a hard disk self test and at 79% It gave me an error code 10008 and asked me to replace the hard disk. I decided trying out XP and was able to install it overwriting Windows 7. But I was unable to boot afterwards through my local drive, but was able to view all my drives when I boot the system using the XP installation USB.So I did a data backup, just in case, and wanted to identify as to what the problem might be.While trying to install Windows 7 over the XP installed drive, the setup said "The drive might fail soon and asked me to choose another drive for installation"I googled the error code, and most results suggest a Hard disk failure and replacement as the most common solutionCan someone help me out here? Am not sure if this has anything to do with the disk cleanup, if some system files were accidentally deleted (twas 4 am was half asleep :-( ) . By the looks of it I fail to see if it could be because of the loss of a few system files.Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks folks! 0 Advertisements #2 phillpower2 Posted 26 December 2010 - 10:32 AM phillpower2 Tech Staff Technician 19,598 posts How old is the HDD concerned, they are mechanical and do not last forever, if it is covered by a warranty return it. From the symptoms you describe, the testing you have done and the error messages received it may suggest the HDD is dead. If you know the manufacturer of
