I did use my Dell ID tag to obtain the proper download for my system. The next time hard disk drive I powered up my computer, I recevied the error message: Error auto-sensing secondary master hard disk drive. Sometimes it would not boot and other times it would boot and load Windows. I wrote to a Dell tech and he told me to reseat my memory. I have also removed and reinstalled the battery and removed all cables with the exception of the keyboard and monitor. It continued to repeat the above error message and would not load. Yesterday I powered it up to copy the error message for you and to my surprise it booted and loaded Windows. I had no problem with any of the operations of Windows. Now that I have shut it down, when I power it up it is repeating the error message and will not load Windows. I have lights 1,2 and 3 lit on the front panel of the computer with one beep prior to the error message. I tried starting it up the other day and it started throwing out all these messages, and if I remember correctly it started with saying that it was doing a CPU check, or something of that effect. It went on an infinite loop doing several things for four hours, and then I finally restarted it... then it tried to do the exact same thing... I restarted several times, but it never let me continue past that. Finally, I gave up for the day... then the next day, yesterday, I tried starting it up again. Instead of booting up, it simply had the error: Error auto-sensing primary hard disk drive0 Strike F1 to continue, or F2 to enter setup utility (or whatever it is the second line says) I have no idea at all why it started doing this. It's a new HDD, and it's never given me problems before. I have an IDE/SATA converter thing for the HDD. I tried a d
