believe to be a 4-speed CD-ROM modem, soundcard, floppy drive. The computer works fine, I just put its old 1 GB hard drive into a newer computer. Now I bought a used 1.2 GB to put in it. The guy I bought it from slaved it on his XP machine, and formatted it, so I saw it was working OK. Bring it home, put it in, it won't boot. continue or DEL to enter setup. -------- I can press F1 to use a boot diskette. I then get the Win98 speil about the C: drive not being detected and all the possible reasons. If I try to use the FDISK command at the A: prompt: -------- No fixed disks present. A:\ -------- I have tried the following 1) Using a different power cable and plug on the gray cable. 2) Try the gray cable upside down. 3) Yes the hard drive is spinning, I can hear it and the drive is warm. 4) Gone into BIOS, when I go the autodetect IDE HDD section it will SOMETIMES detect the drive as a Slave (no matter what the jumper settings are), still I get the Hard disk(s) fail error. 5) Gone into the BIOS and manually set the hard drive specs on Master. An interesting thing. I set the BIOS to auto on master for the HDD. When it reboots I get the message -------- Detecting Primary Master....... [press F4 to skip] -------- And it correctly detects the HDD: -------- Detecting Primary Master......... WDC AC21200H Hard disk(s) fail (80) -------- The drive is a Western Digital Caviar AC21200H as the BIOS appears to correctly detect. I don't know what kind of hard drive cable it uses, (IDE/ATC) I do know that the plug for the CDROM does not fit. I have slaved it on a Win98 machine here, and it was detected fine, I was able to fdisk and format the drive as FAT16 I believe, on tha
