On another PC, make a recovery disk or USB drive with the appropriate OS (e.g. Ubuntu Linux, which is free, may be run from a CD or flash drive). If your PC boots from the rescue media, then you can try to fix the HDD problem, or just install the new OS and hope your data is still on the HDD. share|improve this answer answered Jan 1 '15 at 7:36 DrMoishe Pippik 3,5121218 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote 305 and 303 are usually an indication of hard drive failure, you would need to install a new hard drive and use your HP recovery discs to re-install Windows. share|improve this answer answered Jan 1 '15 at 22:17 Moab 46.2k776129 What kind of hard drive failure is that ? Complete dead of hard drive or bad sectors ? Is there any method to check that ? –Bishan Jan 2 '15 at 2:46 Usually bad sectors, but could be a platter motor, controller failure also, it is a non specific error. –Moab Jan 4 '15 at 17:11 I use Spinrite, not free but the best hard drive utility. –Moab Jan 4 '15 at 18:05 Thanks you. I'll check this. –Bishan Jan 5 '15 at 3:45 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up
