Primary Master Hard Disk Error Windows Xp
have an HP ProLient ML350 with 4 hard-drives on a dual RAID 1 config (two disks on RAID 1 for OS logical drive, two for application data - also on RAID 1). I just noticed my RAID monitor alert saying "New Media Error found on Primary Slave".. I am looking at my logical drives and I can see that one logical drive is missing (the one for primary master hard disk fail application data). I re-booted to my RAID configuration and I can see that all four hard-drives are ONLINE.. In my Disk Management MMC, I can see that one drive is offline, and when I try to reactivate it, I get "INTERNAL Error - Disk group has no valid configuratino settings". I am unfamiliar with the raid system.. But from the looks of things, I'm using MegaIDE Raidmon monitor on CSB-6 Ultra ATA-100 IDE RAID Controler. I would much appriciate any help you can provide.. I then have the option of hitting F1 to continue, or F2 to go to a configuration utility. If I hit F1, my computer almost always starts up as usual. I've made sure all the drive cables are totally connected, I only have one hard drive (so it must be finding the "primary drive"), I've even reinstalled Windows XP, yet the issue remains. Otherwise, my computer runs great, but it's a pretty alarming error message that I would somehow like to fix.Submitted by: Gretchen G. of San Francisco, CA(WARNING: This week?s answer and some recommendations suggest that you edit settings in your BIOS. It was working just fine last night and nothing looked weird when it was shutting down. I came back from work not too long ago and turned on the computer and I was stuck at the very first screen with all the following displayed: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AMIBIOS (C) 2005 American Megatrends, Inc. Press F1 to Resume -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So I pressed F1, and the next screen is this: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reboot and select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot devices and press okay -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nothing happened after that. By the way, both my optical drives are "blind" (they still open and close but can't read anything). So anyhow, I re-started the computer and must have pressed F8 because a screen popped up and I was asked to choose a boot device. I guess both my primary and slave storage devices are Western Digital (I forgot what the slave was though) so when I saw the options, I picked the WDC one (I now know that was the slave). After I did that, I once again got to the "Reboot and select proper Boot device" screen and the next screen was just the "_" (the prompt?) going down line after line indefinitely. I re-started the computer again and was stuck at "Auto-Detecting Sec Slave" while I hear something in the tower that
