If the drive has failed there is little that can be done. If the drive fails the tests but the drive was accessed that would indicate the cable and controller are functional. If the issue is simply some sort of corruption then it might be possible to recover files. POST?Can you see the drive in windows? At least the drive letter? Even if you can't browse the drive?Check disk management within windows, and see if it sees the drive - even if it says it's "unallocated". Then run a chkdsk /r on the drive from a command prompt. This may fix it to the point of getting data off.If nothing shows up, you can try the freezer trick, and see if it lets you get into the drive that way. · actions · 2009-Mar-27 8:25 am · Fox McCloudCrazy like a fox.join:2006-07-23 Fox McCloud Member 2009-Mar-27 10:08 am Yup, if fails during POST...I can't get into windows or anything (despite the fact the first disk is fine). In any event, I decided (before you posted) to try the freezer trick....once it's been in there a bit longer, I'll see how it performs. It's so odd because the drive spins up and sounds fine...*shrug* · actions · 2009-Mar-27 10:08 am · LagzPremium Memberjoin:2000-09-03The Rock Lagz to Fox McCloud Premium Member 2009-Mar-27 10:34 am to Fox McCloudAre you sure the jumper is set correctly?
